Hi everyone! Finally, the site is working again...

I bought this memory card in a hurry yesterday. It hasn't been shipped yet.

The alignment of the labels and one spelling mistake confused me. Do you think it's genuine?

The "PlayStation 2" blue text seems too thick, looks similar to a fake card I own. The back label does not seem to have the metallic blue shine and the screw's heads look thicker too. I'd say it's a fake

Thank you for your reply. It's true, the lettering is a bit bold, and the two words are joined together on the back label.

I found this to be cheaper than the others. I was looking for an original "made in Japan." I paid $8.

Unfortunately, in my country, PlayStations are treated like "lost treasures." You can get prices of $25 for a PS2 memory card. These prices are ridiculous. The Playstation 2 continued to be produced for many years (13 years).

My package arrived, here's the card inside.

Well, this changes things. Your pictures look way better than the seller's ones, the printing doesn't look as bad as it did on the seller's ones. The board is branded by HORI, which made official third party accessories for PS2, so if that board is real, which I guess it is as I don't see nothing wrong with it, it's a real Sony memory card, so really good news!

I had my doubts at first, but after seeing the card inside, my suspicion of it being original disappeared. Yes, this is really good news! I got it for half the price compared to other sellers. Thank you for your detailed and informative response.:encouragement:

My television isn't available right now; I'll take a look as soon as I replace the capacitors. :encouragement:

this is kinda interesting.

internals are from a third party, officially licensed, memory card - hori. shell body could be fake.

You will be OK.
Are you serious? The product in the shared link has a "Toshiba, Taiwan" chip. Mine is "Samsung, Korea".

Buy MMCE if you can. PS2MC became obsolete due to those devices.

And original cards used various of chips manufactuers, Samsung, Hynix etc. Yours looks good but still, check them by app I mentioned, then you will be 100% assured. If you would see epoxy blob, or different size chip with bridged config for it, then that's be 100% fake.

Yes, buying a MemCard PRO2 and Retro Receiver is a great solution. However, recently, overseas individual shopping has been made impossible in my country, and even Chinese sellers have stopped accepting purchases.

I'll only use this card for faster boot times. Booting from the HDD is a bit slow.

I will definitely try the app and share the results here. There are a lot of fake memory cards and gamepads on the market. They look almost identical.

The honest ones seem more appealing, like the "DoubleShock". At least you can tell what it is.

Genuine.

You won't know without opening them up.

Could you try opening them up? After removing the screws, slide the top piece parallel to the bottom. I recommend cleaning the plastic parts of your memory cards with dish soap and a toothbrush. They'll look better. :topsy turvy:

I know it because i bought them new 25 years ago ;)

IMO better is PSxMemCard Gen2. I heard about lot of issues with MCP2.
I'm glad to hear that; the button placement on the PSxMemCard Gen2 seems better. Because pressing the buttons from the top will eventually damage the input port.

I believe you, I'm just wondering if there are any other memory cards that have both an OEM shell and a HORI PCB.
