this ones for all the newbs

Before you go about flooding forums with can I jailbreak X.XX PS4?!?!? Any PS4 on 6.72 and lower yes, refer to an exploit host menu on your PS4, or host it yourself and open on your PS4. PS4 7.0X not yet as there is no WebKit entry point to execute the public kernel exploit. PS4 7.XX above 7.02 ie:7.51, NO there is no webkit or kernel exploits publicly released for these firmwares. If your PS4 is on any firmware above 7.02 you must either find a vulnerability yourself and exploit it. Or wait for one if one becomes public at all.

Also, public access to kexploits will never be on par with SONY's firmware updates...

So yes, you're likely to be left in that dark hole forever... unless you buy a pre-modded PS4

...Or avoid updates for a really long time. (which PS4 grabs for updates as soon as you boot it)

So yeah, you might want to turn that feature off ;)

Turning off autoupdates has no effect. You either need to use a custom DNS server that has Sony's servers blocked or don't connect your ps4 to the internet.

Yeah, just leave the PS4 completely disconnected from internet "forever"

Or maybe deny those prompts for system update every time they are given... but it likes to force itself upon your system nowadays.

Honestly, I don't even care about a kexploit when SONY is still pushing plenty of games for PS4 and hella updates.

FYI only a newb on this site, I'd appreciate if you could withold your ignorant demonstration of the ability to point out the obvious to yourself.

But yes only way to competely block sony device auto updates is dns or leave it unconnected period

That comment was not even in reply to you, unless you happen to be using multiple alternate accounts for some questionable reason???

Now, as I should have stated from the first post, cool story bro...

Nobody knows about the Payload called Update Blocker??? :apthy:

Nope, I don't pay much attention to the PS4 scene as it's still a work in progress. you probably know more than the OP himself

Anyways, I love how the guy posts this thread with balls of fury telling people not to ask and that there is no "good" public webkit when this is information that any person should study to have a general understanding about how it works and what vulnerabilities there are before trying to run the kexploit. 6.72 got a patch last week but still has model-based performance and stability issues from what I'm hearing.

Maybe in a couple of weeks here I can finally order a pre-modded PS4 to see what all the fuss is about. Other than homebrew apps that can be used to copy your games and play them without a disc, I don't see much fun or reason for doing this to your PS4. Also, with the games that allow us to cross-play with PC gamers, we are already having the issue of those players using injection mods from some kind of background process while they are playing the games (Just like the way people use mods on Combat Arms), that and maybe PS4 gamers have found alternative methods to cheat these games such as how USB CFG's are rampant and unpatchable on PS3.

It's hard to justify cheaters or even the game being cheated because if you can cheat the game than it's a vulnerability that should be patched, but when it comes to a scenario like Activision filing a lawsuit against CxCheats for distributing mod menus, well then it's likely clear about how that "vulnerability" cannot be patched... And I know it's hard to compare PC to PS as they are 2 different worlds, yet Playstation does everything they can to stop things like this from happening on their platform specifically... And if it did happen on PS4, then it would likely be unpatchable & there would be no lawsuit to follow that as there was no direct person to target like CFGs on PS3.

What I'm saying is, modding PS4 will be "fun for you" until everbody and their mother can do it... Then you will have a bigger issue than having your crossplay games ruined by PC modders, no, PS4 and it's gamers will have done it to themselves. Maybe it will finally happen when the PS5 puts the PS4 in the ground or maybe it could happen sooner. Wherever there's a will, there's always a way.
