"To use this content you must activate this system" error

Hi there. I installed two games, not my first time doing it, one of the games started having this error now another that was working also gives me the error. I got a new HDD recently but I think it started happening before I got the HDD, I also uninstalled han toolbox v0.3 and got v0.5.

I chose the option to not copy save files to the new HDD but the accounts seemed intact and the other game installed and worked fine for some time, now after a week or so of working just fine I get the error.

I need a bit of insight on what went wrong. I noticed that when I click triangle and under Information\buyer, nothing shows up, while it used to show the name of my PS3 user account. Any help is appreciated.

maybe check if the rif is still present. it will be named after the content id which you can get via a hex editor and the eboot. I'm not sure what happens if the activation key is wrong though, if it will even show up in the buyer's field.

I'm assuming this is a problem that happened after the hdd swap.

If it is, when using the transfer options on ps3, I don't think it transfers over the activation part needed for licences etc.

I think you may need to re-activate your console.

maybe check if the act.dat is present: dev_hdd0:home/0000000x (where x is user number)/exdata/act.dat. you can check if the rif is present in the same location.

I think the HDD swap might be the issue but it's a bit odd one of the games working for awhile without a problem and then all of a sudden the error, can't figure that one out.
I checked the folder and the rif files are there but no act.dat. If I reinstall the rif files the act.dat shows up in the folder and the games work but after a reboot the file is gone!? I guess I should be glad they still work even If I have to install the riff files every time I turn on the system...

I don't think I've ever heard of this issue. you might try deleting the profile. then, signing in to psn to get a new act.dat.

Yea it's weird, I have no idea why the file disappears after a reboot. I can't sign to psn atm though because it prompts me for firmware update, I guess I'll just install a rif file every time I boot the console until something comes out for 4.83 super slims.

Use the proxy method to sign in and activate the system on your dummy account. The disappearing act.dat happens because the system is no longer activated. Make sure you install the ACT/RIF PKG afterwards too.
