  • The program will help to manage the games (.ul format) on the USB drive.
It can also be used to "cut" a disc image (ISO) to fit into the FAT32 file system.

Cause originally latest USBUtil 2.2 REV.1.0 [BETA] was not translated to english,
I also added version translated by jbliz.
Unfortunately the author of the translation (jbliz) did not have the source code,
so some words such as BIEN (Good) were used,
because he has not found them in the executable file.

    1. To "slice" ISO into ul. in USBUtil v2.2 Rev1.0 use:
      File-> Create game from ISO.

    2. Select the source of your ISO and the destination where it will be copied.
Do not use long name for output folder, because you'll get an error
      after process will end.
      Name is shortly (e.g ISO).
Do not select Media (leave AUTO) or Patch (leave empty):

    3. Name of the game can't be longer than 30 or 31 characters\letters.
Do not add Game ID, because USBUtil will creates it automatically:
      image.png

    4. After setting "Source" and "Destination" you can enter "Create" (process will start):
      image.png

    5. When the process hit 100%, no error should pops out:
      image.png

    6. Hit "Cerrar" button, now you can install another game:
      image.png

    7. All games should have BIEN tag:

If they do not have it, something is wrong.

    8. Copy ul.* files into root of your USB HDD.

  • Here is a video which will explain in detail how to copy large 4GB+ PS2 Games to FAT32 USB Drive.

Original Spanish version:

Full tutorial for USBUtil 2.0 version is attached in htm format.
Unfortunately all images are gone.

Previously I had translated the v2.2 version of USBUTIL to English, and I posted it on ps2-home. But there are some texts that I can't find.
In Windows 11, if you download and try to run it. It is detected by a cloud security scan. Just ignore it.
This updated version can be said to be 99% done. If anything is missed, let me know.

Wow! It's been a while.
I remember that you had posed this app also in currently dead PSX-Scene:
Org: http://psx-scene.com/forums/f100/[new]-usbutil-2-2-rev-1-0-[beta]-122271/index2.html.
Backup: https://web.archive.org/web/20170704231307/http://psx-scene.com/forums/f100/[new]-usbutil-2-2-rev-1-0-[beta]-122271/.

Anyway thanks for finally updated (in 99%) English version.
Additionally I also added this version to this thread\resource:
https://www.psx-place.com/threads/usbutil-by-iseko.19048/.

Sorry, I replied late. Yes, I posted there, and I haven't played PS2 since that post. Until my son wanted to play on my old PS2 console and I remembered that there was still a lack of translation of this USBUtil.
I hope someday the source code is available so that people can translate it better than I did.

Nice tutorial

Are we sure the false positives in the English version of this are actually false positives? I have never seen a file that supposedly wasn't actually infected blow up so many warnings on my system.

The Mediafire link is dead, the site says it has deleted the file, claiming it is malicious.
Trying to download the version hosted here has Chrome block it harder than I have ever seen and makes me jump through far more hoops than usual to force it through.
When I did that Windows Defender immediately deleted it.
When I disabled that and tossed the finally downloaded file into VirusTotal 21 out of 61 engines that scanned it claimed to find a virus, half of them major ones and not just some random unheard-of scanner.

Compared to the original Spanish version which Mediafire, Chrome, and Windows does not block and Virustotal only has two engines detect an infection, said two engines being ones infamous for false positives in everything.

I think there is a high chance this is not a false positive and the English version really is infected.

That is a good question.

Theoretically this English version has been downloaded many times and no one "complains"...
But that does not prove anything...

As for MediaFire. You are right. The file has been blocked...
So currently the only way to download it is to do it from the attachment.

Anyway.
Thanks for the info.
I will add a warning for the English version.

Compare it with executable in AIO Project. I downloaded it from guy behind that translation. If it is the same, maybe he poisoned it intentionally or his Windows was full of crap and he didn't even knew about it...

Golden rule in IT so in scene too is: trust no one. Use VM or sandbox.

TBH: This app is totally obsolete today since exFAT was added to OPL.

Hello.
I recently returned to PSX-Place while looking for apps for my old PS2.
I saw comments saying my file was dangerous or had something inserted.
To clarify: I only used Resource Hacker to make it English-friendly.
I'm not a hacker, just an office worker who loves PS2.
The file was removed because my inactive Mediafire account got deleted.
