thing is that in xmb after installing edat pkg the game title drops the trial if it has it and in options it says "cancel purchase". just when in game its still in trial mode
you should place the edat files in edat folder first, then type 12 to make a pkg.
TAPR do not create a edat file for you.

That's what I thought! [emoji5]️
It could not have worked without a proper edat... Game remained a demo....

can't recall what @aldostools said, but he once explained y some of the ps3 apps give false positives. like @bguerville said, it's the way the app is being read by windows defender/chrome. add it to exceptions, so the detection doesn't pop up.
The AV flags it as a malware because PKG_ContentID is associated to several extensions (because it acts as a "hub" that decide wich tool to call). Some of these extensions, the AV recognize them as system files of Windows (e.g. .dat, .bin, directory) and flag the tool as potentially dangerous...

I don't have the money to pay M$ or AV companies to include me in their whitelist of devs. ;)

it's a bird, it's a plane...leave it to super aldo to know the correct answer. ;)

Yet bin & dat are both very common file extensions... Illegitimate use of those extensions is marginal no? Why those extensions more than exe or com?

I think "Directory" is the registered extension that is flagging the tool as malware, because that registration is often exploited by real malwares, virus, adwares, etc.

.bin & .dat are used also by media players and ISO tools, and some AV think that the tool is trying to trick the users.

try my method. the app is designed for c00 pkg files only. see if it works. it works for me, so it should work for u.

u just need the content id which u can get from the param.sfo of the game. everything else is automated.

my method creates the edat as well as the pkg, so if the other methods rn't working, it could be an issue with the edat rather than the pkg. at offset 10 of an edat is the content id. I'd check that with a hex editor.

yeah thats what i posted earlier about it possibly being the edat

u might be able to hex in the content id. the first section is 9 characters followed by 16 characters, so all content ids r the same length. I'd check the content id just in case. there's another possibility if ur virus scans r blocking something with the apps.

tested with av on/off and both pkg md5 are same. ill see what jjkkyu says as hes the expert

yeah, u should probably wait 'til then. I've never used another app, so I don't have experience with them. the only downside to my method is that the edat is created as well as the pkg.

Seems like more work for @jjkkyu then... [emoji5]️

It's one of the only feature of TAPR I have not yet used. So far everything else works great.

@psydefx
Have you tried both with an official edat & with an edat coming from TAER?

i just started with edat pkg stuff and using the tools i mentioned earlier. i do find it strange that all three methods i tested have same problem

You may want to try with another edat, it would be interesting to find out if it packs an original edat/or an edat made with another tool....

And the edat you made with TAER works when copied manually?
