cool thanks....!!
You are welcome. Enjoy the tool.
For info, remember you also have PS3 Tools Collection 4.81 & ESSE Resigner 4.5.4 as alternative. Personally I like to have various tools to compare results in case of problems. You probably already know that though. [emoji6]

yeah , im trying everything. My goal is to make a pkg file to install into the \game\bles01717\usdir folder of BO2. I made a ps3_extras folder and I want to do it like I did for GTA, so that when you click on the extra content bubble , you can install a custom eboot and .self files. so every bubble has a different type of eboot, one for MP one for zombies along with the .selfs that go with it.

I used to have a program that packaged everything up with no problems even with no eboot or sfo but ps3tools won't do it, seems like E/S/S/SE wont do it. they all will make the package but always it leave the eboot and self. I put a test text file , pkg it up with ps3tools, I set everything up and when I clicked on the bubble in the XMB BO2 extra content, it put it right into the usrdir! my problem are the eboot and selfs! any recommendations? im racking my brain. with gta I could use any eboot or .raf I found online and it inserted it made the pkg no questions asked. but I can't remember which one it was. arrgh

Have you tried to create 0 byte placeholder files to see if the tools can deal with it?

You could also try to use a custom package.conf file with the command
Code:
make_package_npdrm.exe package.conf
to build the pkg.
pinky described how to use such a file to create a pkg with no data/theme in his tutorials, you could refer to those examples if you need info.
http://www.psx-place.com/threads/pinkys-ps3-tutorials.1546/

If that does not help, Aldo will have a solution for his ps3 tools, bigjokker for ESSE & jikkyu for TA Self Resigner & Pkg Rebuilder.

Yes, you could try rebuilding the pkg with a 0 byte eboot...
Unless a package.conf customised build does the trick...

hmmm I try that... the funny thing is , even if I use the STOCK eboot and self files, the ps3tools STILL won't package them, it will do the other files but not put in the .self or eboot. which I think is weird. but maybe thats normal. :uncomfortableness:

Hold on. What are the files you need to package? I had understood that you wanted to make a pkg without eboot or self but the packaging would fail without those.
Given your last post, I think I misunderstood....
Can you take the time to reexplain the situation in details?

lol sure... initially what I want is to insert a modded eboot and modded self into the \game\bles01717\usrdir folder. BUT in the past like with gta, I made DATA000.PKG files with literally no eboots or rafs in there. I made packages that literally were pkg files of like webman themes, multiman elite edition, an eboot and sprx loader...etc ...hell, the multiman man elite edition package has no eboot , no sfo , but when you would click on the extra content bubble it would install to the xmb and from there you ran the app and it would install! i have no idea how since I didn't make it, I just repacked it as DATA000.PKG and put it in a D010 folder in the ps3_extra folder of the game

I was able to package up anything with almost no issues. it would just force make a pkg with or without eboot, I THINK it was PKG Tool v0.5 . but its harder to find and all the ones online are LOADED with trojans.

so yeah basically I want to be able to put any eboot or self I want into the usrdir of bles01717 but i would also like to just make a pkg of anything so it can show up in a bubble ,, even if clicking on the bubble makes the program go to the xmb as it should , thats fine, but right now these apps all require an eboot, they all have to have content id and package id matching ..etc and before I would just put anything there and bam...done. I just wish I could find that program again. and I think somebody here....actually gave it to me, but it was before the site changed and the thread is gone :(

sorry that was so long ..whew

so basically my questions are 2

is there a way to force make a pkg and bypass all the checks so it puts the eboot and or self you want into a package?

and secondly ...like the multiman elite edition package....how do you make one with NO eboot and NO sfo??

Ok so just to be sure I understand correctly this time, what you want to do is repackage just an eboot + a modded self to be installed in an existing game folder.

There may be a better way but I think I would try this:

Why don't you try adding the param.sfo of the game you want to install into? Recreate the directory tree and see what you get...

Otherwise just with the eboot & self files, you could use the ForcedinstallTo options in a package.conf to install to any location on the hdd. Look at pinky's ps3 tutorials for an example if you need one...

The pkg tools you are talking about can be downloaded from http://ps3.brewology.com/downloads/download.php?id=10347&mcid=4

yes that what I'd like to do

yeah I did the sfo thing..so i have the usrdir, the png, the ps3logo.dat and the sfo, and thats what I make into a DATA000.PKG and it don't work. the ps3_extras folder has an sfo...and without the sfo , no matter which I use I get errors during the packing process.

yeah I got it from there, but virus total , metadata and jotti all come back with loads of trojan warnings. Have you used it before? I actually checked all the exe files in there separately and they all came back clean EXCEPT the actual tool itself which had like 15 warnings lol

but the funny thing is the one the person from here gave me back in the day , it was clean... I will see because I'd like to do this project and share it.

oh and I saw the thing on the force location of the conf....but that last line how do you write it out...for example lets say I use that to want to install it to the tmp folder...how do I write it...is it ps3\dev_hdd0\tmp ? or is it all caps ? ...sorry again

Just
Code:
/dev_hdd0/tmp
It's the Linux way so forward slashes & no caps.

Btw the stuff on brewology doesn't have viruses. It's just the same old thing with Anti virus & various resigning tools, is it not? Anyway there are other places to get it, I just took the server that has been good to the scene for years now.

I'm not entirely sure how u'd install to the tmp folder if that's what ur trying to do. the ForcedInstallTo option uses a base location. if u were to make a gameexec pkg for example, it would use the game folder as its base. I've not tried it, but using .... might work. that's how u'd back out of directories on the vita. it's how u'd could backup the entire memory card instead of a single game via cma back during the eml days. each . of the ellipsis denotes up one directory. that may or may not work.

That's right.
I think using full paths was tried & didn't work. You can still try I suppose.
But I suggested this option because I thought you were gonna use a BLESxxxxx folder as destination.
