PS2 Trying to install Free McBoot for the first time!

Hello! I am posting this because I am seeking help in installing Free McBoot for the first time. I tried doing everything correctly (as per the steps listed on these very forums), but when I try to load the proper ELF file, the screen just goes black.

I own a white PS2 Slim, and here is some information on it:

Console: SCPH-79001
Browser: 1.40
CD Player: 2.00
Playstation Driver: 2.00
DVD Player: 311U
 
If you done everything right then you will not have any problems?!
So maybe you did something wrong?
 
1. Download and write on USB the R4D (Recovery for Dummies).
2. Boot Free DVD Boot, file manager will automatically start.
3. Go to "mc0:/", mark all folders, press R1, choose Copy, go to "mass:/" and this time choose psuPaste.
4a. Go to "mass:/APPS/Memory Card Annihilator/2.2.0" and start "Memory Card Annihilator (new drivers) v2.2.0 (packed).elf"
4b. Make card image on USB.
4c. Do full format of card on USB.
5. Reboot console
6a. And this time go to "mass:/APPS/Free McBoot & Free HDBoot Installer ISR/1.966/" and start "Free McBoot Installer ISR (2025-01-01).elf"
6b. Install for all models.

Step 3 making all saves backup because in step 4, card will be formatted. And formatting card isn't necessary but wise because it will also exclude potential bad blocks and you will install FMCB on fresh fully working filesystem.

I've done all of that, but as soon as I attempt Step 6a, the screen still goes black and nothing happens. I've even tried installing v1.963 and still nothing. I'm going to try to work my way down that list.

EDIT: I've worked my way down that list, and I am still getting the black screen.

Try then official FMCB installer and 1.8b version. High probably you have soldered modchip. ;)
Or gave up with FMCB and use PS2BBL+OSDM, which can be installed by KELFBinder.

I am pretty sure that it ISN'T modded, because I bought it from a local indie game store that does actually sell modded consoles when they arrive, and you know if they're modded from the first, since they will be labelled as such (I actually purchased a mod-chipped Switch Lite once, and it was labelled as modchipped--and I have traded in modded consoles as well as sold them to others, which eventually ended up at this shop).
