PS3 [TUT]Mounting PS2 SingStar on PS3 using webMAN MOD mount_ps2 feature

Since @aldostools was nice enough to include this feature in the official builds of webMAN MOD, here is simple guide how to use extracted SingStar PS2 backups on SingStar PS3 version using the mount_ps2 webMAN MOD command.

Personally I am using the mount_ps2 command, not sure if mount.ps2 does the same now. I will update wMM this weekend, currently still have 1.43.36 installed but it should work on the latest version unless aldo removed or edited this feature again.

  • What you will require:
    • An original PS2 game disc (any should work). Couldn't get it to work with a burned copy
    • PS3 with webMAN MOD accessible via home network (look up IP in network settings)

    How to:

1.Create a directory on internal/external and extract/copy the loose Singstar files to it.
    Example: "dev_usb001/Singstar/SingStar Pop/Pack_EE.PAK" etc.
    2. Load up any PS3 SingStar game
    3. In the song selection, press SELECT to open the change disc dialogue
    4. Eject your disc if there's one inside the PS3
    5. Now if you want to load the SingStar Pop from above, you should use this command:
    6. Then insert any PS2 disc. It should automatically load the mounted SingStar game.

  • Additional Info:
    • You can change discs as often as you want, but you always need to eject -> mount -> then insert physical disc again. Only do it on the change disc screen or the game will quit.
    • Maybe aldo already included a mounting feature within the webMAN MOD webpage, but I always did it manually this way.
    • I made myself a simple html landing page with links to mount all of my SingStar games, probably easier than typing in the urls every single time.
    • If you can't access webMAN MOD via web/browser or are unable to mount, try reinstalling the full version (hold L1 while launching the webMAN MOD installer). I had to do this after upgrading to 4.81.1 Rebug.

From the picture I see you have mounted /dev_ps2disc

Verify that the files in the folder /dev_hdd0/PS2DISC/SingStar Anthems are mapped to /dev_ps2disc => http://0/dev_ps2disc

If they are mapped, play SingStar and use a physical PS2 disc to simulate the eject/insert of that disc.

If that still doesn't work, then I don't have idea of what else could be wrong.

Thanks for info. I'll have a look. Once again, I apologize for being a nuisance.

Just a quick update. I finally managed to get everything working. The mistake I made was just dumping each singstar game in folder format under the PS2DISC. What I didn't realize is that each game still needed it's game id. dev_hdd0/PS2DISC/SingStar/SingStar r&b/SCES55178. That did the trick. The only problem now however, on certain tracks I get a video failed error. Could this be purely corrupt data?

Hey has anybody gotten singstar 90s or the singstar(ps2) to work. Ive gotten other singstar games to mount but i cant seem to get singstar 90s to work or the original singstar to mount.

Check the Title id. I've picked up that if your using a UK/US region ps3 title, then all your ps2 mounts need to be from the same region.

I havent been using title ids for the folders but ive gotten singstar titles from the UK,AU,US and Spain to mount fine but these 2 particular wont mount

Just further findings, all PS3 games that I have seem to work except ultimate party.
Also if you want to change any PS2/PS3 singstar game loaded on your PS3 hardrive sitting on your couch from your phone the following generally works for me:

Start)
Leave a PS2 copied disc in your disc drive
Load any PS3 singstar game via webman games (except ultimate party)
Have a clickable list handy on your phone of games/commands
Option 1) To quick load another PS3 singstar game from a PS3 game
a) disc swap
b) http://myIP/mount_ps3/dev_hdd0/GAMES/SingstarPS3Game
Option 2) To quick load a PS2 singstar game from PS3 & PS2
a) disc swap
b) eject disc http://myIP/eject.ps3
c) mount http://myIP/mount_ps2/dev_hdd0/Singstar/SingstarPS2Game
d) insert disc http://myIP/insert.ps3
Option 3) To go back from PS2 singstar game to PS3 singstar game
a) disc swap
b) eject disc http://myIP/eject.ps3
c) http://myIP/mount_ps3/dev_hdd0/GAMES/SingstarPS3Game

So after not playing for awhile and forgetting the above, i found some interesting quirks
When you first change game from PS3 to PS2, the eject command doesnt work, have to manually press the button, but after that changing to other PS2 games the eject command works.

In my example i used a copied PS2 singstar dvd. Copied via windows explorer to a dvd. If you find new iso singstar games and extract the file info into a folder to put on hard drive, the extraction method makes a difference, i found some new games and extracted using winrar and i was getting the insert a singstar disc error message. But if on my computer i click into the iso and literally drag the files out into a folder, then put this folder on the PS3 hard drive i get no disc error message, and it loads as it should. I guess i followed this method originally, and it makes all the different region iso discs work with my copied disc.

For Anyone still wondering, like i was the last hours, do it like tvfan99 describes and make sure to NOT USE WINRAR. Could not get it to work for hours, in the end always got the "not a singstar disc" error, Once you do it via windows explorer it works. weird.

For anyone who is still having problems getting it to work
I managed to finally get it working

What worked for me is the files in the ISO you extract and then copy onto the PS3 hdd need to be in capitol letter i renamed every file and then it worked like tvfan described

i copied the files via IRISMAN onto my ps3 hdd
