PS3 Ubuntu 9.10 on otherOS?

i just got in a second HDD Sled off ebay so i could swap drives, and wanted to mess with linux on the PS3 again, but havent done so outside YDL back on 3.15

im on 4.90 Evilnat (D-PEX), i atleast know a bit about OtherOS+ & petiboot. but not much more than that.

is there an easy guide in getting Linux setup? is it still possible to use it and GameOS ? or do i haveto choose to use only Linux or only GameOS? and does having a Seperate Drive for Linux n one for GameOS make it harder or easier?

Also for ubuntu you have to debootstrap it on oos++, as the provided old iso images cannot see ps3dd.
Compiling a kernel natively is gonna take hours to days, finding the correct cross-compile toolchain for older kernels is hell, precompiled kernels could be missing important patches. I personally use t2sde, its the only dist still supporting the ps3

Also the old petitboot image everyone is using has some issues booting newer kernels, and graf_chokolo, original dev of oos++, has turned the otheros.bld you get from compiling geoffs kernel with ps3_petitboot_defconfig into a bin file

Regarding the seperate hdd there is a old oos++ 3.55 firmware somehere which partitions like 80% or more of the drive for oos, idk bout swapping them though
