Unable to open ps3xploit . com on ps3 browser

Hello all,

I'm new to doing homebrews CFWs and I was able to obtain an old PS3 Slim.

I decided on trying ps3xploit (Mr. Marios vid) and checked all the requirements and everything checks out.

My problem is when I try the part where I have to open the ps3xploit . com on ps3 browser, it doesnt open.

After rechecking all the steps, my main problem is that I cannot update the time using internet as it is asking me to update my software first.

Now my questions are:
1) How do I open the page?
2) Can I update to a certain version only, as I can see that it's not yet advisable to go for version 4.87?

Thanks!

set the time manually. use an accurate source like a cellphone or ask google. it can be a little off i think.

Hi,

Thank you for replying!

I did try setting it manually but it did not work.

If setting it manually is not the problem then maybe the problem is my system version which I failed to mention is v 3.0 or something.

The exact version you are on is important here. If it is 3.55 or lower you do not need any exploits to install CFW. If it is above 3.55 then you will need to update to 4.86 via USB, then use the toolset to jailbreak.

Also the minimum version is important, but let us know what you are on first?

Hi! Once again thank you for the reply! So for your question, I checked and my system version is 3.30. What is my best move forward sir?

Also, I just found out that my unit does not read my physical games. Is there a known issue that might be causing this? Though I'm not really interested in doing so because Im planning on just settle on CFW and ISOs.

Wow, 3.30, that PS3 must not have been used for along time.

You can most likely just update to any CFW via USB from the XMB system update icon.

But I guess just to be extra safe you should update to 3.55 OFW first, as that is all that have been tested, no one is testing 3.30 OFW to CFW directly really.

So I recommend you install this PUP first:
https://archive.midnightchannel.net...8c61/CEX_CRC[5b6101e4]_FW[v3.55]_PS3UPDAT.PUP

MD5: ca595ad9f3af8f1491d9c9b6921a8c61

Are you familiar with the normal firmware updating process? Basically you need a FAT32 USB stick, put the PUP files onto it in a PS3/UPDATE/ folder. Rename it to PS3UPDAT.PUP.

So it should look like x:/PS3/UPDATE/PS3UPDAT.PUP .

Then go to system update > update via mass storage on the XMB.

Then once on 3.55 OFW you can install any CFW using the same method. No special hacks required.

With your console not being able to read discs, if its just the laser or the mechanism it should not be an issue once on CFW, worst case you will need to install a NoBD CFW if your console has a more serious issue but do not worry about that for now as its unlikely. It is most likely the laser and not worth fixing it.

It actually is an old unused unit! LOL.

My cousin who always had consoles on the first day will immediately ditch his old ones. When I saw this one gathering dust, I just asked him directly and he gave it to me. Now I'm alraedy on the path for a PS5 but I really just want this for Nostalgia and for my young 'uns to experience it. :)

Anyway I really appreciate this! I've read something about updating to 3.55 first so now I can confirm that it is my next move. Thank you very much! I'll be back if I run into trouble! :D

BTW, can you point me to a CFW that I can best use?
I would say go to 4.87.2 CFW by Evilnat which you can find here: https://www.psx-place.com/threads/cfw-4-87-2-evilnat-cobra-cex.32057/

Download link here: https://mega.nz/file/gAMWSL5D#LULRb25cQ2N7I0un1tiuPCpUONeOh1nJZaYDTDkpDIo

Once on CFW you can QA flag, and then freely downgrade if you change your mind and want to try out other CFW.

Cool. Once you are on CFW you can install the webMAN mod plugin via pkg manager, this will give you things like background FTP, game mounting, and a cool feature that might be interesting on your console, where you can check the total time the console has been powered on.

I was actually looking at that thread! Now I can proceed! Thanks A lot! Repping you for sure!

Hi immediate problem.

I've downloaded EvilNat's CFW, but after DL and when I tried to extract files it says unknown format or damaged. Attaching a screenshot here. What do I do next?

Hi! I'm back again with a new problem. How do I run my ISO games? I've done installing and tried multiMan and WebmanMod. Both can see the ISO but an error always happens.

Would need to know the error, and when it shows, does it mount? Does it error when you try to run it?

Hi yes, it does mount. The first error on multiman says "
This operation is not allowed.
ISO TYPE: 32 and something along those lines

THen when I tried webmanmods it says "AN error occurred during start operations or something." it also sometimes just go black.
