PS3 Unable to update PS3 CFW 4.82

so i got this PS3 running CFW . it has debug settings enabled . i am unable to update the firmware due to the following reasons :

1) unable to update visa USB from XMB from as it shows locked status and i am unable to unlock it.

2) unable to update the firmware via safe mode as it seems the update version is spoofed to 9.99 and i have no clue how to restore it to default .

i have tried installing rebug tool box to switch from dex to cex but it keeps giving me a message saying i am not running compatible REBUG confogration and REBUG cobra configrations so not all features are enabled in order to shift from dex to cex

I seems that your are stuck with Rogero's downgrader, which it has its quirks that need to be known before using it.

thank you for your reply. sadly i am still unable to update the ps3 even after following the guide . as i have mentioned in my post i am unable to do the update from the XMB as its locked status and i dont know how to unlock it . so i am going with safe mode but it shows me the firmware should be 9.99 and higher . in the previous post you mentioned they have provided the rogero's downgrader firmware but it still gives me the error there is no applicable update data found on the USB even though it gives me the preparing for update message and the percentage of loading advances .

Because you have to download the CFW versions that Rogero's downgrader is able to use. You can not use any CFW out there, just a few are allowed.

Another thing is that you didn't give any sort of details of your console, like model, current CFW installed, current type of FW (CEX/DEX/GEX), etc.

sorry for the late reply i have been stumped with work . the firmware is on 4.82 i believe its on CEX as i have checked from rebugtoolset , i have followed the instructions of the earlier post solution you have posted but unfortunately still no use . i noticed it recognized the rogero's update as it starts to preparing for an update through safe mode but again it still shows no applicable update found . keep in mind i am unable to update the console through XMB menu only through safe mode as in xmb menu it .

at the beginning i thought its DEX so i tried to change it back to CEX but its already CEX . its my first time experiencing this such as a console where i am unable to update it.

just a hint : whenever i boot the ps3 it shows PS3 pro enhanced edition instead of ps3 sony official logo or evilant or rebug logo as we are familiar with

UPDATE : the console finally accepted the rogero's firmware 3.55 downgrader but now the console doesnt turn on , just boots up for a second then no light at all not even a red light .

You did not follow the instructions.

If you install Rogero Retail Downgrader, you must set the QA Tokens and then install Rogero 3.55 CFW v3.7 (MD5: 8f8166b25d6bed891f292c77de5c4b28).

As you can no longer reach to the XMB, you have to do the update from Recovery Mode.

thank you for your reply again . i am unable to boot into recovery mode as whenever i press the power button the ps3 shuts down or stuck in a loop where the power button doesnt go either green or red .

That seems to be a hardware issue. The best thing to do is diagnose the console using the Syscon.
