PS3 [UPDATE 4.82.2 Released) 4.82.1 REBUG REX CFW (w/ COBRA 7.55) + Homebrew Updated for 4.82 DEX

Update (April 16) for DEX user's >>> REBUG 4.82.2 (see update below)
We seen the release of 4.82 REBUG LITE (A CEX CFW) released but without the emergence of a 4.82 DEX Firmware in the public hands, we had to wait for a REBUG REX (a hybrid of CEX/DEX) release on 4.82. The wait is now over as the team has obtained a 4.82 DEX PUP and have the CFW ready to go. REBUG REX (w/ COBRA v7.55) is ready to take the plunge into 4.82. Also IRISMAN / webMAN MOD / ManaGunZ by developer Aldostools/Zar to add support for this new release.

i installed han toolbox to download psn demos, but i assume it was mm or webman, which screwed it up and removed it from the xmb...
tried uninstalling and reinstalling han toolbox several times, but it didnt appear on xmb..
is there some way to reset the xmb, other than re-installing the firmware ? :P
I recall someone posting about the same thing on the forum, but i can't find the question/answer on it... :O
I'm on 4.82.2 Rebug REX

@PSXFan If You didn't backup Your XMB xmls then not. You must reinstall fw or find someone who give You his xmls, or unpack fw package, tars and extract it from there.

And why do You want HAN Toolbox on CFW in the first place? It's useless on CFW...

How else do you download PSN demos on CFW without logging in on PSN? :)
(yeah, i could download them on PC and use LAN to xfer over,but.... )
thanks for the tip about xmb xmls.. gonna back'em up asap.

You don't need login to SEN (PSN doesn't exist from many years), You need to know direct link to package/packages. In case of patches, You don't need them to know it as update function will find all automatically. I always download everything on PC in case one day Sony will add some kind of platform and fw version validation. In XMBM+ 2K17 (but don't use unofficial package because not everything works, instead use my guide and ZIP archive) and Devil's hacks there are demo downloader utilising WebMAN MOD. You can do the same with full games and DLC links (You can create such XML very easily).

And I don't see any connection between HEN and working PlayStation Store. You can login into SEN on HEN and CFW, and on both You risking get banned.

I guess there was a bit mixup with my words, anyways... you obviously figured out what i ment..
and yeah, i do have my backups on my PC. :)
o yes, there is several pc programs, and web-sites to obtain genuine pkg's off sony's servers, like google1 and google2..
but ahem no,we're not talking about piracy here, right. :)

that's partly why I kept a copy of all of my ripped ps4 game pkgs. I need to rerip maybe three or four of them with their keystones in order to use my old saves. there are really only three or four games I care about. I've not progressed in any of them due to this.

Getting copy of purchased content is not piracy. However, direct links publishing is somehow are. And even worst, it could be interpreting as their network breach (just like when You go inside to someone home without permission, even if door are unlocked and open ;)). Personally I have backups in bubble form (*.pdp) extracted from console before she installed them.

Anyway, my point is that You can create Your own "downloader" if You know the links and don't need the SEN or newest fw to do it.

What he meant is sony has servers that can be accessed by anyone with any machine, is like an infraestructure open to the world
so in legal terms you can post all that links, and there are legal tools that connects to sony databases

A good example of this is the links for game updates, is just an static url where you need to change the TITLE_ID of the game... and you can paste the link in your PC web browser (like firefox or chrome, etc...) and it takes you to an XML file where you can see several things like:
-number of updates, and installation order
-download links for all the (active) updates of the game in .pkg format

With the demo PKG it happens the same... you can download the game demo pkg from PC because the servers doesnt checks if the machine downloading the file is a PS3... and doesnt requires an user account in PSN

What is protected are the licenses. When you purchase a game from PSN store in the PS3 you download the game + the license for it

and, you can only get the license if a game is released. pre download games have to wait. there's no way to crack the license either even if using multiple pcs.

btw, afaik, the xbox 360's download links are closed, so you can't download them on a pc. a check may be made to see if you're on a 360. there was a way to connect to the dev network on the system. you can tell a dev version from a retail version in the hacked dash: dev will have an orange and white box; retail will have the normal green and white. anyway, this is where sony f'd up big time. even ps4 games can be sniffed, so I guess they didn't learn their lesson. ;)

Delete wmconfig and wmtmp then refresh html and xml and try again.

sounds like a hard drive problem that just happened coincidentally after installing rebug.

it does "sound like it" doesnt it, i think the problem arose from not knowing to (or how to) remove my copy of 1.41 webman mod (now not working) after rebug 4.82 install... before installing the latest package of wmm 1.47.09. Something i did with trying to get wmm to work, caused the hang, now i just need to try get the hdd to work, or least back up important data via pc with the ps3 hdd reader, i think i got a eid root key dump :)

yes, if it is the hdd, get that stuff off there asap. I had an issue like this with one of my external hdds for the ps3. luckily, I got all the stuff off of there before it crashed for good. that hdd housed my psx and psp rips too which I had forgotten that I had. :)

I think its more likely the hdd is fine, but i have simply corrupted it from being able to boot with either playing with installing webman mod packages over each other,
or possibly with some advanced rebug 4.82 debug menu options i dont normally touch.
So far as i remember (was a couple weeks ago now) it hung after trying to fix up webman to run right again, without first fully deleting (as i dont yet know how to delete apps off cfw).
I installed wmm 1.47.09 over 1.41 as it wasnt working after rebug 4.82 update, and then it worked but not proper... so i may have installed the wmm 1.41 pkg, then it hung and wont reboot at all. SOMETHIN LIKE THAT LOL

Basically, i need to try to now get another HDD, install rebug 4.82 cfw,
and with the problem HDD->extract & copy all its needed data like gamesaves etc
(either on the ps3 plugged in externally and using a manager like multiman or irisman, or by pc using ps3 hdd utilities with my eid root key)
and copy it on to the fresh new HDD, and it'll be game on again

installing one version of wmm over another shouldn't cause that to happen. wmm files go in the tmp folder iirc. the sprx would go in the virtual flash, if it's not already on the hdd. I can't recall exactly where it goes, but in either case, it would be on the hdd if using a NOR console. I think mygames.xml and the category_game.xml are also placed in the virtual flash. these files shouldn't corrupt the hdd, and even if the hdd was corrupted, you shouldn't have these problems.

you need the updated version of wmm that's compatible with 4.82. nothing bad should happen if you have a lower version installed, then update while on 4.82.

I'm not sure about messing with debug settings. I suppose it's possible one could corrupt the hdd, but it's not working in the recovery menu either? that sounds like something else is wrong. :(

Thanks for the reply. Oh okay, yeah i have never had any issues before when just simply installing packages of ps3 homebrew apps over the top of other ones. If i knew of the commands to completely uninstall the apps first on the ps3 before installing newer .pkg of same app,
i would have done that, but as yet still havent checked how, but just heard a command to do it.

I have the updated wmm thats compatible with 4.82, i installed the lastest wmm package, as after my update to rebug 4.82 from 4.78, webman wasnt working & everything else was fine.
I can't remember for sure as was late at night a couple weeks ago, but i think i had it working.

There are some debug settings that if not done correctly or in harmony with other settings have froze my ps3 while experimenting with them. I have done that & fixed it in safe mode restoring default settings. Its since i did that, and it was again booting the ps3 just fine,
somethings caused it to not even boot, and i think it was messing with webman.

So now im formatting a new 1.5tb hdd & going to put that in the ps3,
try backup things off the hdd that freezes on pc with ps3 hdd reader,
try find out what app can make a sector-by-sector of that drive also,
and then copy the gamesaves etc etc to the fresh ps3 in irisman.

I'm not sure what app i need to do sector by sector - do u know?
or if its okay once im up and running on this fresh hdd with rebug 4.82,
to plug the freezing drive in the usb2 and try get things off it that way,
with irisman or multiman, whether it comes up externally and is safe to do so??

that I couldn't say. I'm not sure what could've happened. apps/games are installed to a temporary directory, then to its main directory (I this it's UPDWEBMOD in the case of webman mod). and, the app version is increased in the metadata indexer. I'm not sure if anything else other than that happens. the hdd is touched since both the indexer, the temp directory, and the destination directory are all located on there, but regardless, it shouldn't behave in this manner. the worst that could happen is a rebuild of the database, if the indexer is corrupted, or a corrupted install, which will show up as the temp directory. it should only affect that one app, so I'm stumped what could've happened. as far as debug settings go, I don't know what each one of them does (should be able to find out on psdevwiki), so I guess it's possible to cause a corrupted hdd. I just don't know. oh, I think there's a list of what each does on rebug's website. it's divided between debug menu 1 and debug menu 2 with 2 being dex settings iirc.
