It's summer and you're bored; what do you do with that amount of free time? You create "Apollo", a new homebrew app for the PS3! :D

  • you might wonder... why is it called Apollo?
Apollo was the twin brother of Artemis, goddess of the hunt. Since this project was born using the Artemis-GUI codebase, I decided to respect that heritage by calling it Apollo.

So, without further ado, let's present Apollo:

Apollo Save Tool is an application to manage save-game files on the PlayStation 3.
The apollo-ps3 homebrew app allows to download, unlock, patch and resign save-game files directly on your PS3.

    Features:
    • Easy to use: no crypto-key configuration or advanced setup needed.
    • Standalone: no computer required, everything happens on the PS3.
    • Save files listing: quick access to all the save files on USB and the internal PS3 HDD (+ file details)
    • Save SFO unlocking: allows the user to remove the copy-lock flag, enabling transfer of Copying Prohibited save files.
    • Save files patching: supports Bruteforce Save Data and Game Genie cheat patches to enhance your save-games.
    • Save PFD resigning: allows the user to resign save files made by other users and consoles.

yes, in the Irisman source there's also code for the 'double bar' progress bar, it can be useful for batch processes. E.g. you use the first bar for the total progress, the lower bar for the "current" progress

the real challenge is not the progress bar, but calculating the numbers for the progress itself... for example, you need to keep track of "total files that I want to copy", "how many files I copied already", "the file total size", "how many bytes of the files I copied", etc

and you need to keep track of all those values properly, and then keep updating the progress bar so it actually "fills up" ... sometimes those cosmetic details take more time than actual hardcore features :D

I did something similar in the simple file manager, using 2 progress bars.
this might help inspire you https://github.com/lmirel/fm_psx/blob/master/source/fm.c
around line 260, in function fm_file_copy

actually, a couple of months ago I was looking into simple file manager, because I wanted to add the NFS and SMB libraries I ported to it... basically, I wanted to access files from NFS and SMB/Samba shares directly from the ps3.
I ran out of time, and couldn't continue... but at some point I might get back to it :)

Weeks ago I suggested you to include Simple File Manager to Apollo (and maybe your other tools). It's as simple as add these LIBS to makefile:
https://github.com/aldostools/IRISMAN/blob/master/lib/libfatfs.a
https://github.com/aldostools/IRISMAN/blob/master/lib/libsfm_ps3.a
https://github.com/aldostools/IRISMAN/blob/master/lib/libntfs_ext.a (maybe this one too?)

Then execute the file manager with a combo or a menu option calling it like this:
// exFAT File Manager
extern s32 fmapp_run();
fmapp_run();

This simple change adds a lot of features to your apps.

IRISIMAN uses a modified version with some minor improvements to the official release.

hello @aldostools, yes you're right, you mentioned this before, I forgot

I didn't had enough time this weekend to work on it but I'll try to add it next time (I wanted to release the 1.4.5 version to fix the online-db download bug)

I think I could add the option under the "User Backup" menu, and then test that everything works alright. (just in case the binary files from a different toolchain create some hiccups in the app)

thanks for your help! :encouragement:

How do you get cheats to work with this because I tried to use cheats with Darksiders & I kept getting this error message:
Error! Cheat code couldn't be applied.
Also this is the first time I have used this program so I don't know if I do everything right either

could you confirm the Title ID of the Darksiders game you're trying to patch? (is it darksiders 1, or 2?)

if it's Darksiders 1, let me know as it looks like the cheats are missing the compress/decompress codes.

Darksiders 1 is the one I am trying to use cheats for

alright, the issue is in the patch file. I don't have a save-game to test, but I've added the missing commands.
You can copy (overwrite) the file inside the attached .zip to
Code:
/dev_hdd0/game/NP0APOLLO/USRDIR/DATA/

to copy the file BLUS30320.ps3savepatch you can use FTP or a file manager (multiman, irisman, managunz)

once the patch files are copied, try running Apollo again, and apply the desired cheats. The "decompress" and "compression" required patches should be selected automatically when you select any cheat.

I want to make sure I got this right: this zip you gave me do I replace it with the one that is on my flash drive & how exactly do I get it from the flash drive to Apollo because I am not 100% sure how to do that can you explain it to me in simple step by step instructions please

  • You need to unzip the file in your computer.
  • You'll find a BLUS30320.ps3savepatch file inside.
  • Then you need to copy BLUS30320.ps3savepatch to your PS3 hard drive, to this specific folder: /dev_hdd0/game/NP0APOLLO/USRDIR/DATA/

there are many ways to copy a file to the PS3, so just look for a tutorial or youtube video, they'll explain better how to use FTP or USB.

Well I didn't see anything on YouTube about putting a file in a certain folder and I don't see anything on Google either on how to do to move the file to a certain folder

To access the PS3 filesystem, either get a file manager homebrew for ps3 and then copy it from USB using that, OR get a FTP server running on PS3 and then send it directly from an FTP client on PC to the internal HDD on ps3 using that..

Well I don't know where to get that at or how to set that up either
You better do some research then.

I recommend the FTP method, you run a plugin like webMAN MOD on the PS3 end. This will give you background FTP access, Then you can just use windows explorer on your PC. Just type in FTP://192.168.8.52/ (Use your PS3s IP address here, you will find your PS3s IP in network settings on the XMB)

Then you can access all the folders on your PS3 via your PC. It will look like this in windows explorer.

You can get the webMAN MOD installer here https://github.com/aldostools/webMAN-MOD/releases/download/1.47.32/webMAN_MOD_1.47.32_Installer.pkg, simply install the pkg from USB, then run the installer once. Then after it reboots you will have background FTP server running on the PS3.

I was able to transfer the file but I am having a problem with Multiman it will not launch the game it just keeps going back to the Home Screen and in the game settings I have it set to internal and BD Mirror and is that right or is that wrong

Thank you, hopefully the next version, to convert PS2, will be given 2 choices, ISO.BIN.ENC or title_id.BIN.ENC (sign _ not -).
Example: /dev_hdd0/PS2ISO/FFXII/SLUS_209.63.BIN.ENC

The reason is ISO.BIN.ENC does not support config from wMM.

oh, I had no idea that ISO.BIN.ENC didn't support configs.
does it work if you rename the "ISO.BIN.ENC" file to "tile_id.BIN.ENC" ?

can you open an issue on my Github, so I can keep track of this enhancement? I also want to add the option to encrypt PS2 config files, so implementing these 2 things together would make sense

maybe I'll just change the behavior and encrypt "my_file_name.ISO" to "/dev_hdd0/PS2ISO/my_file_name.BIN.ENC"

that would allow the user to create "title_id.ISO" -> tile_id.BIN.ENC if wanted

does it work if you rename the "ISO.BIN.ENC" file to "tile_id.BIN.ENC" ?
Yes, it works.

maybe I'll just change the behavior and encrypt "my_file_name.ISO" to "/dev_hdd0/PS2ISO/my_file_name.BIN.ENC"

that would allow the user to create "title_id.ISO" -> tile_id.BIN.ENC if wanted
This will be difficult for beginners, because it is not easy to know the title_id of a game.
