It's summer and you're bored; what do you do with that amount of free time? You create "Apollo", a new homebrew app for the PS3! :D

  • you might wonder... why is it called Apollo?
Apollo was the twin brother of Artemis, goddess of the hunt. Since this project was born using the Artemis-GUI codebase, I decided to respect that heritage by calling it Apollo.

So, without further ado, let's present Apollo:

Apollo Save Tool is an application to manage save-game files on the PlayStation 3.
The apollo-ps3 homebrew app allows to download, unlock, patch and resign save-game files directly on your PS3.

    Features:
    • Easy to use: no crypto-key configuration or advanced setup needed.
    • Standalone: no computer required, everything happens on the PS3.
    • Save files listing: quick access to all the save files on USB and the internal PS3 HDD (+ file details)
    • Save SFO unlocking: allows the user to remove the copy-lock flag, enabling transfer of Copying Prohibited save files.

mediafire.com allows to upload files without registration or an account, but no worries I'll ping you with a PM so I can get the .zip file

thanks!

Well, thanks to @Algol I've got a few save-games created with the "fake data owner" from DEX, and the mystery is solved. :encouragement:

Neither 0xFF hex or 0x46 hex (ASCII "F" uppercase) are correct, the actual value is 0x66 hex (ASCII "f" lowercase) :D

I'll address these 2 account-id issues (offline user, fake owner user) in the next version.

for the record, here's the hexdump from a PARAM.SFO:

So it was wrong in BSD. Here is a fixed executable. It includes the latest game.conf that I have.

Install the program, then replace the files in this .rar

I added a link to Apollo Save Data download page.

I have a bit of a problem.. My screen became black after appearing bucanero ?? I could hear the music..

that looks like an issue with the update-check network connection... is your PS3 online, connected to the internet? if you're offline, that might be an issue...

if the ps3 has network access, maybe there's an issue with the github.com URL... try to wait a bit and see if the network call timeout

So it means that the Apollo will not work offline? There are plenty of peoples which do not want connect console to the internet (i.e me, I download updates on PC).

I guess we can say that after a lot of work, Apollo reached code-maturity level

Well, then what would be next? Trophies resigning? ^^" That would be awesome if it doesn't need to run every games again to update index.

And of course excellent "Pokemon job". :D I wonder how many games left which using additional encryption and/or validation layer.

Update is awesome, thanks! Unfortunately it still doesn't work with Undisputed 3, not sure why, tried the fake owner option but still no dice. Weird, guess some games just don't play nice with it.

Would it help at all if I provide a save of the game for you to check out if you've got time?

Apollo works offline just fine, no need for any connection at all. :)
(I have tested it with "network = disabled" and no wi-fi/ethernet link, the app runs alright. The "online DB" option will be useless though)

I was only replying to that user, as he didn't give much details about his problem.

Yes, complete resigning/updating account_id's for trophies is in the list.
I also want to add a few extra things to trophies, basically the stuff that the PC app TrophyIsGood can do, but directly on the PS3. The app is open-source, so no need to reverse or do guess-work. ;)

probably many save-games remain with unknown custom encryption /checksum, but since PS3 days are over, I guess that nobody still tries to dig into those files.
Just as an example, "Tales of Berseria" has a 2nd layer encryption, and AFAIK there's no decryptor around. (only owners of the japanese cyber-save editor can edit those Berseria files)

I don't own that game so I can't really check much beyond the regular signature validation that can be done with Bruteforce savedata or pfd-tools.

btw, I don't really recommend using the fake save owner ID even if your CFW supports it. (Just my personal preference)

Thank you, Bucanero.

I was crazy because needed to unlock 100% of a game with PS3TrophyIsGood and then checked with bruteforce savedata, but after "rebuilding database", i was getting the 80022D55 (after messing, i got other error ***74c or so) and coudn't do anything more. But your tool save me quickly. Only resign on -SFO Patches- > "Account ID" > "Remove ID/Offline" and... done (well, i resigned the trophies too with the tool). The only tedious step is the "rebuilding database" (delicated step to redo too many times).

Don't know what i do wrong and why your tool do the trick.

** Bucanero, any posibility to backup the savegame to the HD internal? i was doing save-scumm with diablo 3 and doing backup-restore with the usb and so was a little tedious. Maybe a "manager" per game to select quickly and restore saves from the same ID (sorted by time, a "note" or etc). Only a observation. Saludos.

to quickly backup a save-game to HDD, just use the "Zip save-game" option. This will let you create a .Zip with the save-game to HDD (also to USB). You can create as many as needed, and the .zips will be created on /dev_hdd0/tmp/apollo/

specially if you're going to apply cheats or modifications, you can create a zip backup in your HDD, and if something goes wrong you can always recover from the .zip file.

@bucanero There is an issue (not sure if it's just visual or can impact on signature process). If the Account ID starts with "0", the Apollo shows that the current user is not the owner (being the owner):

If you need some help testing or more info about this, I'm glad to help.

oh good catch, from a quick source code review, it should only be a visual mistake and the resigning should be done with the correct account value

Have you tested it already , to know if it breaks the save game?
I'll fix it in the next update
