It's summer and you're bored; what do you do with that amount of free time? You create "Apollo", a new homebrew app for the PS3! :D

  • you might wonder... why is it called Apollo?
Apollo was the twin brother of Artemis, goddess of the hunt. Since this project was born using the Artemis-GUI codebase, I decided to respect that heritage by calling it Apollo.

So, without further ado, let's present Apollo:

Apollo Save Tool is an application to manage save-game files on the PlayStation 3.
The apollo-ps3 homebrew app allows to download, unlock, patch and resign save-game files directly on your PS3.

    Features:
    • Easy to use: no crypto-key configuration or advanced setup needed.
    • Standalone: no computer required, everything happens on the PS3.
    • Save files listing: quick access to all the save files on USB and the internal PS3 HDD (+ file details)
    • Save SFO unlocking: allows the user to remove the copy-lock flag, enabling transfer of Copying Prohibited save files.
    • Save files patching: supports Bruteforce Save Data and Game Genie cheat patches to enhance your save-games.
    • Save PFD resigning: allows the user to resign save files made by other users and consoles.
    • Save downloading: access to an Online Database of save-game files to download straight to your PlayStation.

It means that Apollo can create "dev_hdd0/home/<user number>/exdata/act.dat", which means You no longer need Sony network to anything related to licenses. If they one day, turn shit off and You will need to format or change HDD, or just move to another but "clean console", thanks to Apollo You can still activate PS3 and in consequence been able to use licenses, which means be able to playing digital games. ;) This is nothing new for CFW users as we have in the past ReActPSN, but new for HEN users which have nothing like that until now.

@bucanero Thanks for more this update, I love this tool....
Please, one question: why some trophies unlocked by Apollo don't receive the PSN sync flag?

Apollo won't set the sync flag. So it can only be set by the PS3 itself when it sync with the servers.

Note: Some users have reported some issues while sync'ing edited trophies, so I suggest to keep a backup if you want to sync edited trophies back to the servers.

That's exactly what I meant. I was also one of those who noticed that by editing a trophy in Apollo, some of them does not receive PSN flag. That's right then, thanks for the explanation. (Sorry my bad English "google translate").

@bucanero

In English via G-Trad :

I tried converting ".VM2" file to ".VME" via Apollo v1.6.4.
Procedure used:
1) Transfer of "generic_0.VM2" and "generic_1.VM2" files to the "/dev_usb000/PS3/EXPORT/PS2SD/" folder.
2) Open the "USB Saves" command from Apollo and read the "PS2 Classics Placeholder" folder (PS2U10000).
2bis) Identical opening of the "HDD Saves" command ...
3) Selection of the "Import a .VM2 to SCEVMC0.VME" command, display of the "select" button.

But there, nothing happens, no other command appears, no activity on the internal HDD. Only the "O" button on the controller allows you to go back and exit Apollo.

What did I do wrong, what needs to be done to make it work ???

Bien cordialement.

PS : travail réalisé sur une PS3 de modèle SuperSlim (CECH-4204C) sous le HEN-3.0.3.

from what I remember, that USB folder is only for VME, try placing your VM2 files in this path on your hard drive:
/dev_hdd0/savedata/vmc/

(also you can try /dev_usb00x/PS2/VMC/ but I think the import is from HDD... need to review the code)

It's OK, the VM2 files placed in the HDD in the path you indicated are well seen by Apollo and well transformed into VME files. I launched "Gran Turismo 3", it can see the files that I had imported from my PS2 Slim.

@bucanero, thank you in advance for all your good advice.

PS: Apollo cannot encrypt VM2 of more than 8MB, it remains in loop on the display of the text "Encrypting VM2 Card ..." with the black line which turns around the icon of Apollo.

good to hear it worked from the HDD path :)

About the bug, the VME code for 16 / 32 Mb memcard files was never tested because I don't have any of those type of virtual memcards. If you can upload the original .bin and .vm2 files, I'll take a look and check what's failing when converting to VME.
I think it might be a small bug that I never saw because I had no way to test it.

You can .zip those .bin/vm2 files and send me a link via PM. (uploading to mediafire.com works fine for me)
thanks!

I am havin a issue with apollo lately.
When I transfer saves the usb drive to the hdd they have exactly 99kb and corrupt the save. (Example, I am trying to transfer a save game that has 240kb, but when I am using apollo to resign them to my console, it goes to 99kb and the game fails to load the save)
I am using 4.88 hen without fake act.dat since one of the profiles is PSN activated.

---
edit: nevermind, I managed to copy it properly:
first I used apollo save tool just to remove copy protection and resign the saved game on the usb drive
then quit the program and copied to the hard drive through the saved data utility on the xmb.

To copy saves to the hard drive, try using the XMB. That's the best way to transfer and confirm that it's not corrupted. No need to use Apollo.

You can resign on USB and then copy with XMB.

I've tried re-signing my recovered Just Cause 2 saves with 1.6.4, now the game straight up says "Failed to open file" and I have no idea how to fix that.

@bucanero, I downloaded the latest version and my UFC Undisputed saves successfully resigned! I am over the moon right now, thank you for the amazing work you've done! I thought I was on the latest version but apparently I wasn't, so I downloaded it and decided to try resigning my UFC Undisputed 2010 save, which I tried with an earlier version to no avail, I didn't have a lot of hope that it'd work, I just thought that the Undisputed games (2010 and 3, haven't tested 2009) were just unresignable, perhaps because they added extra checks in the PARAM.PFD file. But, to my surprise, it worked!

So then, I thought, well, okay, Undisputed 2010 works, so... maybe Undisputed 3 will as well? And it does! I'm so happy right now, thank you so much for this program and for continually updating it as one of the recent ones must've had something changed which no longer causes the saves to become corrupt. Thank you, thank you, and thank you again. I was resigned (pardon the pun) to the fact that I'd never be able to resign my saves for the Undisputed games (I was mainly wanting to resign my Undisputed 3 saves, but it's nice to be able to do it for the older games, too). Thank you again!

I'm glad to hear that Apollo worked with your UFC savegames! :D

Like you said, probably in one of the last releases I added a change or fix that solved your issue... I can't truly say which version because I have added a lot of stuff to Apollo :)

Apollo is quite stable now, and I think that in most cases it should work as expected. I know more features can still be added, but I don't have time for all my projects. (I still want to do a few things for the PS Vita and PS4)

I hope you provide us with programs on Ps4.

Always enjoyed your work on the Dreamcast. Still use your tools from time to time when I pull out the DC. Anyhow got to try this out tonight and can't say I'm surprised this is an amazing tool. That and the name is genius, keep up the amazing tools. Can't wait to see what you have in store for Vita & PS4
