Update Blocker - Game Disc Firmware

So I've been looking into how to ensure firmware updates don't end up getting installed.

When i use the payload for Update Blocker it creates the folders PS4UPDATE.PUP and the PS4UPDATE.PUP.net.temp in the /update folder as it should.

If i click Update Now or use System Software Update in both cases it displays what firmware version it wants to download along with "Cannot download." and "An error has occured. (CE-30021-6)" so that's safe.

Modded Warfare has a video suggesting firmware updates that have been downloaded and put onto a USB stick will give an error when attempting to install as long as the PS4UPDATE.PUP and PS4UPDATE.PUP.net.temp folders are in /update as the PS4UPDATE.PUP file on the USB stick isn't able to copy into /update folder because it can't overwrite the folders already created in there.

If this is true does this mean the PS4UPDATE.PUP firmware files that are on the game discs will fail to copy into the /update folder and also fail to install and display error messages when attempting this?

I don't know if the PS4UPDATE.PUP files on game discs just install without needing confirmation on my end, i'm on 6.72 and wondering if there's a way of handling this, beyond checking the date every game was released before firmware 6.72 release date was.

Putting a game disc in and having it update seems like a risky thing to me.

Appreciate any help.

I don't know about update blocker, but there's an update blocker extreme that might do the trick. it's in xproject.

blocker extreme touts as blocking every update location possible, but according to kiiwii (I asked him), it shouldn't block usb in the recovery menu in case of emergency. worried about that, I disabled it and went with normal update blocker.
