d(Original Article from Nov. 14) Is the PS3 a bit closer to gaining Hardware Acceleration (via RSX) in OtherOS (Linux) with a proper driver to enable the GPU chip? We are not there, but we may be getting closer to a reality. Earlier this year (back in April) we detailed some of the progress that the busy dev RenéRebe has made with unlocking the potential of the PlayStation 3's RSX chip and now today we have been greeted with a new video and what we can expect with this project as the developer starts to undertake the challenge of further unlocking one more component of the Ps3 hardware,. hardware acceleration is vital for 3D rendering and for graphics in general,
It makes a lot of graphics related stuff much faster.

Basically he live codes the thing during his videos showing progress and discussing why he makes the decisions he does and the benefits of using one coding method or another.

He has done 3 live streams in the past week. I would say progress is picking up more than in the past. You have to understand it is a single person doing a gargantuan task in their free time. So it will most likely be a much longer wait. It is just the nature of the beast.

in 2005 when the design was finalized?i've payed 100+ dollars for 1gb at the time and was the only person i've known to have that much even on the pc for at least couple of years,only first crysis forced people to upgrade their xp pc's.

Oops i was talking about 2006,
I had a dual core pentium and 2GB of RAM -_-
But integrated graphics,It was expensive but i thought that was the standard ^^
I sold that PC in 2013 :D

Wow, this sure is an exciting time to get into the jailbroken PS3 community. Only had mine a year but this guy really is doing amazing work. This past week has been fucking AMAZING! He keeps pumping out livestreams now as he prefers them as there is no editing the videos involved so it means more content quicker for us.

I am still hoping this leads to hardware accelerated PSX games! Perhaps a Linux build of Retroarch with all those PSX emulator enhancements? Yes please!

Did you catch the bit on the last live stream when someone suggested to use Red Ribbon Linux for his work as it works on the PS3 and what he said...? = :rolling:

Nope, he's not using Red Ribbon.

If you listern to the last vid at some point someone says to use redribbon in the live chat as he is having issue's getting the version he's using to work correctly...

He said " Why would I want to use that 10 year old slow peice of sh!t "...... :rolling:
