PS3 [Update v1.05] sMAN vv1.02 : New "Setup" Option in side-menu of new UI by deank

If you have not heard of sMAN already. its a new plugin from legendary developer deank. sMAN combines webMAN (vanilla) and recently developed sLaunch feature (that was a separate plugin complementing webMAN). So what is the difference between webMAN & sMAN, sMAN provides a UI experiance for changing games on the XMB, as seen in the ScreenShot provided directly from the XMB you will be greeted with this new way to mount a game. Prefer the original way? Then deank still has you covered with his original webMAN plugin as well. This update provides a new "Setup" option in the side menu and also completely does away with the "My Games" entry on the XMB and to launch the sMAN (slaunch feature) simple hold the START button on your dualshock controller to launch this new UI from the XMB. See full details in deank's release quote

Update: Deank also released a quick update to version 1.02 offering a few improvements/fixes outlined. Update 2: deank is on fire releasing another update to sMAN with the release of v1.05, note this version changes the START button to L1/R1 to launch the sluanch feature on the XMB, see all changes in the changelogs provided.

sman.jpg

  • sMAN (webMAN + sLaunch)

    sMAN 1.01 (2/192017)
    • Added "Setup" option in side-menu
    • Removed xml generation - no need for custom category_game.xml anymore
    • Removed xai_plugin/idle_plugin usage
    • Added x2 upscale for small images/covers (w/h < 336)
    • Added indication of current group mode (PS3 1 / xxx) under title name/path
    • Removed "My Games" entry from XMB - hold [START] to launch sMAN (Note: changed to R2/L2 in v1.05 see below)
    Update(1) - sMAN v1.02 (2/19/2017)
    • Changed netiso/rawseciso implementation (external) - use plugin slot #0
    • Fixed crash when trying to load another PS1 title after one is played
    Update(2) - sMAN v1.05 (2/19/2017)
    • Use [L2+R2] to start sMAN
    • The sprx is bigger (but actually uses less memory) because it contains some glued resources
    • It will use standard PS1/PS2/PSP/PS3/Blu-ray/DVD icons when there is no proper cover/image available
    • This version of the plugin must be named sman.sprx and loaded from (in this exact order):
      • /dev_hdd0/sman.sprx or
      • /dev_hdd0/plugins/sman.sprx or
      • /dev_flash/vsh/module/sman.sprx
      • otherwise it won't work. The first match of these three will be loaded.
sMAN resource files are located in /dev_hdd0/tmp/wmtmp/res folder. There are six icons, background and ntfs/net external plugins. You can play with them until the next reboot when they will be restored to defaults.
NB: Renaming it to webftp_server.sprx and other stupid things are not supported. :)
Thanks to @bguerville for his help about loading xmb plugins: http://www.psx-place.com/......

@deank

Is your PS3 CECH-210X ? Both CECH-L0X and CECH-210X had the same problem with this fan controller.

Good to know, I plan on getting another ps3 soon, will dodge the 210X as my goold old L0X drives me nuts. :)
Although the fan can't be half as loud as the CEHC-L0X one!

It would be ok if you could switch back to syscon controls when unloading webman to play or watch videos on psn rather than be forced to use a constant fan speed when online, but otherwise best to just leave dynamic fan disabled on the L0X and save your eardrums from those restarts at 2am. lol

God forbid you semibrick and have to reinstall firmware from recovery with fan stuck at 100% for 10 minutes... hahaha

@self_slaughter
I was under the impression that this fan issue existed only in dynamic mode.
When wMM is unloaded for PSN use for instance, before shutting down wMM sets the fan mode to manual at the value set for ps2emu in the setup page...
Does this feature malfunction also on your L0x?

@deank i restarted few times and refresh it in side menu, and only one cover of the last of us is displayed, every cover is in 260x300, and every cover is download from gamefaqs and gametdb and recized in paint

webMAN/sMAN/multiMAN support game-id covers named ONLY in capital letters: BLUS12345.JPG (not BLUS12345.jpg, not blus12345.JPG and not blus12345.jpg). So fix your jpg extension.

And also update sman.sprx just in case - there were some issues when exiting the menu.

Actually because of your post last week I changed the behavior of the fan-control at unload in sMAN. Tested it today and it works just fine when you unload sMAN with the key-combo UNLOAD WM: L3+R2+R3. SYSCON picks it slow but it will quiet it down in a minute or two.

@deank i renamed covers to.JPG and all covers are ok, thank you.
i hit again with new sman at unmount at side menu and again xmb freze..

Edit: also i have one suggestion, l2 + R2 for me is a hit or miss, because i manage to enter sman in second or third try..many users only use webman as plugin, so all gamepad shorcuts are free for use, so can you make an option so we can choose gamepad shortcut for sman, you can make few predefined shorcuts for us to pick

this is just example from sman setup page ( to show what i mean)

I really don't see how choosing another combo will change anything, if detecting L2+R2 gives you issues then detecting any other gamepad combo is more than likely going to be the same...

Also, like we said before, sman (like webman) should remain as simple as possible so imo predefined combos & custom combos should be avoided.

Very cool, I'll give it a try later on. :)

I did have a list of all the oddities of dynamic fan controller on my console written down, but lost it during a clean up. If I get time I'll try pick it to pieces again.

@bguerville i didnt said right..i mean that sman should be triggered more naturaly like it was few versions back.. with start or select..and if i understand, start was used in another plugin so deank change it..many of us only use sman so we can use these shortcuts..i didnt mean about those combos in pictures, i only show how option should look like..

Ok I understand however this is very well known issue that exists with wMM & wm_vsh_menu already....

Here is a tip though...
If you use the Start or Select button, you press it until sman appears.
If you use a combo you should basically do the same thing, just keep pressing l2+r2 until sman appears.
If you don't do that, the polling behind the scenes will often miss the combo and you will have to repeat it until it is properly detected.

Sman does not find ps1 games. I keep them in the hard disk in the outer PSXGAMES folder, are more .bin .cue format. Multiman Webman mod and find them but sman not. Why?

Outer psxgames folder? What does this mean exactly?

You mean on external usb hdd? Fat32 or ntfs?
And about the folder name, are you using PSXISO?

Try renaming that PSXGAMES folder to PSXISO,

I don't think @deank added check for PSXGAMES folder. (I haven't tried PSXGAMES folder yet)

Meanwhile, I apologize for my English, but I'm Italian. Then, use the PSXGAMES folder on an external hard drive fat32 usb. I tried to create copy a game PSXISO both internal and external but does not find the same. Sman says "there are no ps1 titles"

You should try "refresh" again after renaming.

I have many also freeze. What happens is that if you start sman, I go out without starting a game, I'm going to start multiman or rebug toolbox but opens sman and Freeza console and I have to pull the plug.

Edit:
The ps1 games have always started with them Webman mod, now I'm hitting on multiman and I get the error "8001000C (EABORT)". What does it mean?

Then, I was able to find the ps1 games to SMAN. If you put directly into PSXGAMES directory or PSXISO .bin .cue files and find them, but if they put them in another folder such as "dev_usb0001 / PSXGAMES / Resident Evil /" does not find them. In any case, putting the .bin and .cue file dev_usb0001 / PSXGAMES games appear but when I go to start Freeza console. How can I fix guys? CFW Rebug REX 4.81.2 COBRA 7.52

Not sure what is going on here. It must be because of the sub folders which are not supported.
I am not able to test at the moment but I just checked the sman source code very quickly, I can confirm that both the PSXISO & PSXGAMES folders are supported. They should be scanned on internal hdd & external hdd (both fat32 & ntfs). The games should all get listed but they require a valid cue file.

No doubt deank will give us more details within a few hours...
