PS3 [UPDATE] webMAN MOD 1.46.00 - Games mounted from XMB without webbrowser_plugin (using idle_plugin)

Update (2/2/17/) -- v1.46.01
Original Article (Jan 31, 2017)
Plugin development continues on the PS3 for Custom firmware users, this week alone we have seen some new features added lin PSNpatch by KW (w./ Homebrew Blocker) and we have seen deank back with new updates to webMAN that added NTFS Support / a new XMB game loading that no longer uses the web browser trick (webbrowser_plugin), in other words the flash you see when mounting a game on the XMB In,webMAN MOD v1.46.00 the plugin incorporates that function but in a different way, this is due to the differences under the hood of the plugin. As webMAN MOD contain different support for various add-on/features that the original project by deank does not support/contain so the usage and handling of things has to be done differently to fit each project the best, for an explanation that is far better then i could offer i suggest checking out the differences between the implementation by deank and then by aldostools as its very well explained in our forums by
@bguerville .

  • Update (2/2/17) webMAN MOD 1.46.01
    • FTP Server uses again the same algorithm on all editions.
In 1.46.00, the FTP Server in full edition was based on the original webMAN due initial issues with NTFS library. The issue now has been fixed

  • webMAN MOD 1.46.00
    • Games now are mounted directly from XMB without the webbrowser_plugin
Thanks to deank for the new XMB proxy included in webMAN 1.46
    • Re-structured the project : Moved all the sub-projects to _ Projects _ folder

    via Aldostols

I have updated wm_proxy, which now is 40% smaller ;) only 2968 bytes.
    SRC: https://github.com/aldostools/webMAN-MOD/tree/master/_Projects_/wm_proxy

In my tests I had issues opening the Internet Search option (found under Network.menu of XMB). So in wMM 1.46.00, I used idle_plugin, instead of kensaku_plugin or xai_plugin (which is already used by CFW Settings menu). According to psdevwiki, this idle_plugin doesn't have subs in the interfaces, so I guess it is safe to remap it.

I also omitted the mapping of .rco, because it's redundant (there is one file in dev_flash). This saves a few extra bytes in code.

    webMAN MOD 1.45.11
    • Added direct NTFS support to 'Full Edition'
    • Thanks to deank, freddy38510, bguerville, Zar, Joonie, Estwald.
      • Added support for auto-mount game when an USB drive is connected
        • 'Check for AUTOBOOT.ISO on startup' must be checked
        • The USB drives to be checked are the ones selected in /setup.ps3 (except /dev_ntfs)
        • The game must be named AUTOMOUNT.ISO or a JB game copied to the root of the drive
      • Added /minver.ps3

hi @aldostools i just moved one 10+ gb PKG file from my pc to ps3 with firezilla and i moved to exdata folder. after i saw that i moved pkg to diferrent folder i entered webman mod trough chrome and cuted pkg and went to packages folder and hit paste..all i moved was empty folder with same name as PKG file..where is PKG file now, i cant find it anywhere, is it deleted? what happened with that 10 gb space..i cant remember how much gb i had before that.

i tried to download that empty folder from firezilla to pc to see how big that empty folder is (i thought that folder is still an iso file) and it downloaded instantly, so my question is, how PKG file became a empty folder when i moved it to another directory trought webman web file manager, and trough that operation, did i lost 10 GB of space, or it was recovered automaticaly

@aldostools. This is just an FYI post. I have a CECHA01 "FAT" PS3 (build date November 2006) running Rebug 4.81.2 REX and multiMAN 4.81.02 installed. I also have webMAN MOD 1.45.11 installed and working fine. I tried updating to 1.46.00 and 1.46.01 and ran into some problems. First: 1.45.11 shows 258 PS2 ISOs stored on internal HDD which is correct, but 1.46.00 and 1.46.01 only show 250 (max memory is set to 1280 kb, refresh XML and HTML). Second: they won't install full versions. I hold L1 when running the updater.pkg also tried holding L1 when launching webMAN MOD (no wm_vsh_menu.sprx or webftp_server_full.sprx plugins). Third: when I try to shutdown PS3 in webMAN MOD XMB my PS3 freezes about 95% of the time, this never happens with 1.45.11. Fourth: I can't mount ISOs to the XMB from multiMAN with 1.46.00 and 1.46.01 (could with 1.45.11). And finally, when I do shutdown my PS3 sometimes my fan continues to run and I have to use the power switch on the back of the console to turn it off (I have let it run for about 45 minutes to see if it would turn off on its own but it doesn't). I have fan control set to manual at 50% and PS2 fan set at 60% and the CPU temp. never rises above 130 degrees F and RSX temp never rises above 135 degrees F (during heavy use) usually they both hover around 104 and 116 respectively. This never happened before ever. I reverted to 1.45.11 and all is fine. Just wanted to inform you of these problems. I don't know what changed from 1.45.11 to 1.46.00 that would cause these issues. I love using webMAN MOD and its features and looking forward to more updates. Thanks for your time that you put into this plugin.

Check that there is no conflict between the wMM versions.
Look at the boot_plugins.txt, it should not have entries for webftp_server.sprx & make sure that webman is enabled in the Rebug Toolbox.
Delete any webMAN configuration files & folders in /dev_hdd0/tmp/which names start with "wm".
Delete the /dev_hdd0/xmlhost folder as well.
Launch the 1.46.01 Updater & keep pressing L1 until the console reboots.
Reconfigure webMAN-MOD completely.

If you still don't have the full edition installed, you could always install it manually.. The file webftp_server_full.sprx can be copied from the 1.46.01 Updater installation directory in /dev_hdd0/game/UPWEBMOD/USRDIR to /dev_blind/vsh/module then renamed properly as webftp_server.sprx.
Then copy from the 1.46.01 Updater folder the whole "images" folder containing the vsh_menu theme images as well as wm_vsh_menu.sprx into /dev_hdd0/plugins & add the path /dev_hdd0/plugins/wm_vsh_menu.sprx to /dev_hdd0/boot_plugins.txt.
Then reboot.

FYI fan control set at 50-60% is far too much, it must be extremely noisy.
The temp does not need to be so low, 148 to 158F is cool enough. Any less is unnecessary really..
The fan manually set between 37 & 42% should achieve such temp easily.
I also recommend using dynamic control instead of manual. Set the PS2 emulator to around 40%, that will be the mode used whenever wMM is uploaded, for instance when you go online.

@Aldostools

As we know, the vsh-menu isn't very stable (sometimes it doesn't appear, sometimes DS3 buttons don't work properly, etc.)

Is there a possibility to improve this, but without loosing functions?
I don't know, but maybe it could be better, using another plugin for this (idle_plugin, kensaku_plugin or xai_plugin)?

Just trying out 1.46.02 at the moment.

So far no issues on full or lite editions with a combination of internal isos and split isos on an external fat32.
Load times are incredible on big split games compared to earlier.

Very slick indeed. Love that the internet search works still so no stock functions are lost. :)
File size and memory usage is incredible on the lite edition.

Excellent looking release so far! Thanks for putting in the time on this.

Greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the advice. Yeah, with the fan at 50% and 60% it was quite loud, I just didn't want to risk my PS3 overheating since it never has and it is a launch model that I bought new in 2006. If you say 148 to 158F is acceptable I will adjust my fan.

@aldostools can you make an option for disabling game loading and loaded from webman notification..now webman go automaticaly to game load location, so we dont need notification to tell us that game is loaded..thanks

I fail to see why the focus change would modify the need for the feedback pop-ups...

Actually when a game is mounted with the idle_plugin method, the XMB goes directly to the Webman Games entry first before moving to the disc icon once the game is mounted.

This 2 step focus change is not ideal & is confusing imo...
Also it seems to me that there is more latency with mounting on wMM than with webman...

You should not have to ask as it's explained in both the wMM General Information thread & the wMM web commands thread.....
http://www.psx-place.com/threads/webman-mod-web-commands.1508/
This is the command:
http://localhost/delete.ps3?uninstall

When webman & wMM were used on the same machine, they mostly produced the same files but there are differences. Uninstalling wMM does not get rid of all webman temporary files.
After using the wMM uninstall command, I suggest you check the /dev_hdd0/tmp & /dev_hdd0/xmlhost folders, to delete any webman related file or folder left over manually,

thanks but How I execute http://localhost/delete.ps3?uninstall , please an example
i can install webman 1.46 with toogle webman enabled or disabled

It's a url that you can use in your ps3 browser.
Just start the browser, use the Triangle pad button to open the menu. Choose the Open URL entry & type the URL then launch. The webMAN-MOD web server will do the job & provide a feedback page.

Note that you can use the same command & all other wMM commands (look up the webMAN-MOD web command list tab in the wMM General Information thread OP) from any browser of any device connected to your local network. So for example, you can use your PC or your smartphone on wifi, open a browser & use the webMAN-MOD web server with a URL like this:
http://ps3-ip-address/delete.ps3?uninstall
(of course you must replace "ps3-ip-address" by the real ip address of your console, usually something like 192.168.x.x)

Using system plugins would improve the performance of many functions of wm_vsh_menu because it avoids among other things calling a browser however I do not think that would help improve the pad detection.
Am not sure exactly what causes this apparent pad issue, aldostools may tell us.
But the new Slaunch for instance is just another vsh_menu actually, same core principle, same core code & the pad works great in it.
And for now it would seem that idle_plugin is the best choice overall btw.

no! localhost is what we use to call a locally based web server. It is like this on every machine not just the ps3 & wMM. Search the Wikipedia for the term localhost you will see!
You can use localhost or 127.00.1 or the ps3 ip address, the 3 things are equivalent.

Don't delete boot_plugins.txt or any file manually if you want to make a full uninstall! If you do, remember that if ever you reboot the command will not work correctly anymore...and wMM still won't be fully uninstalled anyway...

thanks , is comand(http://localhost/delete.ps3?uninstall), delete all webman mod,

After using the wMM uninstall command, I delete can manually, /dev_hdd0/tmp and /dev_hdd0/xmlhost folders , rebug 4.81.2

The command will delete everything related to wMM.
You can check manually, browse the folders & see for yourself... If any file or folder which name start with "wm" remains in /dev_hdd0/tmp, delete it. It's possible for remnants of webMAN...but webMAN-MOD files are normally all erased.
Same thing for the /dev_hdd0/xmlhost folder which should get deleted by the command too.

Oh my... You have one problem after another... Lol
What is the multiman story now? As always we need more details than "multiman freezes the xmb" & you should know that by now!

What consoles in it? Cfw? Cobra status? Does multiman launch at all? Does it launch mmCM? When does it freeze exactly? On multiman launch? On game mount?
What multiman version is it? Etc...
