Hi,
My friend has a PS3 FAT model CECHK02 running latest Rebug 4.86 LITE with broken HDMI port (component is fine) and an original 80GB drive. He wanted to upgrade bigger HDD and I was trying to help him but no success...
The problem was that PS3 refused to boot into recovery mode with component cable. I followed the steps for recovery mode by holding the power button till the console is off, then hold the power button again till I hear 2 beeps but there were no beep for the console (I've done it fine on my PS3 slim tons of times with hdmi and component working), it just restarts as usual...I also choose the option in Custom firmware tools to reboot in recovery mode but it didnt work, black screen as well.
I even removed the hard drive and turned it on but the console just came up black screen instead of a warning screen with no hard drive attached. So I have no idea how to upgrade hdd for this console or in case the original drive fails someday.
Is there anyway to clone this hard drive on computer to bigger drive which allows PS3 to use bigger storage?
And another small problem is this CECHK has slow boot, I feel like it checks the HDMI route before showing up on component even there was no HDMI cable plugged in, does anybody know how to make it boot faster?
Thanks you for help.
