PS VITA / PS TV Vita System Update 3.60 Released + (Status of Vita Exploits via wololo)

PS Vita firmware version 3.60 has been released. It has been reported that it stops certain exploits (like the Metal Gear Solid exploit) from working, while still allowing other methods like Quikrazor's custom bubbles. If the custom bubble requires anything more than userland access, then it will not work (eg. ARK-2 or TN-V require kernel access and thus will not work). Other than that it is the same "Stability updates" as usual from Sony. So if you have your Vita setup how you want it, please keep this in mind before updating. [break]s[/break]

Wololo Explains Status on various Vita Exploits in v3.60
via wololo.net said:
  • The new Firmware 3.60 does patch the Metal Gear Solid exploit, but it doesn't patch a certain other exploit…
  • Despite firmware 3.60 fixing the recent Metal Gear Solid VHBL exploit, which was a limited method of using the VHBL on firmware 3.57, it did not fix a certain other exploit. I am of course talking about the Custom Bubbles that were created with Qwikrazor's very own method. As long as those Qwikrazor Custom Bubbles only require user-mode access, like most Emulators & the trusty VHBL do, they should still work on firmware 3.60. If they require kernel access, like the ARK-2 & TN-V Bubbles, then they will cease to work as of updating to the most recent PS Vita firmware.

    • Any other kind of Custom Bubbles, such as the ones created with Major Tom's & mr.gas' method, aren't working on firmware 3.60 and didn't work on firmware 3.57 either. They have been patched since quite a while.
Nonetheless there are still ways to run the VHBL & various Homebrews on the Playstation Vita, such as the Custom Bubbles that were created via Qwikrazor's method.

We are of course suggesting you to not update your PS Vita, if you're currently using any kind of eCFW or native Hacks. The only things, that are still working, are the usermode exploit Bubbles.

Update: from atreyu187
  • Custom whitelist still works for PSTV, Remote Play and any other app.db mods done prior to updating like custom themes are also still working as well.

hey [MENTION=7]atreyu187[/MENTION] . how have u been, man? I hadn't heard from u in a while, so I was thinking about sending u a text to see if u and ur family were okay.

btw, I'm not sure if u saw this, but I found a way around the tnx, bubble blower, tnv issue with the common save. I noticed that it used the TNV save folder, so I modified the h.bin to look in the PSX folder. I couldn't transfer over that content with CMA though or it'd override the TNV folder despite being named PSX. instead, I transferred over the folder and content with vita ftp (had to create the folder first, then transfer the content or it wouldn't work). without this change, tnx would freeze for me. everything seems to work now - audio, video, controller, etc. :)

I'm glad to hear it. Disney? I've been to Tokyo Disneyland before. it's pretty much the same.

here's the modified file. this is for xs moto btw:

Code:
http://www.mediafire.com/download/0czn0fbfff37pc9/SLUS01506.rar

remember to create the psx folder with vita ftp and dump the tnx files inside of it rather than going through cma, because cma will override the tnv folder instead of creating a new psx folder. I think it might be due to the param.sfo.

Awesome bud thanks alot!!

np. let me know if u encounter any issues. I never quite understood what the issue was, but since it was using the tnv folder and different, identically-named files, tnx would always freeze for me when it got to the game selection screen. that mod - it works perfectly for me.

edit: I had forgotten to mention that if u don't create the psx folder, u'll get a C..... error. that's how u know it transferred over correctly in case ur unsure.

Gotcha I redid my PSTV totally after doing tthousand and bitsbubba's systems. I have found echochrome is an excellent free base game at under 70mb.

Just installed VHBL, PS3 Remote Play and Advanced Whitelist from 3.20 CMA backup to 3.60 all mods in tact. Only takes a little hexediting!!

[MENTION=3657]pinky[/MENTION] yes creating a CMA with PSN account linked. Make the backup from my 3.20 to flash to my 3.60 as uri calls still work just fine in 3.60 using the calendar app instead of the email app to write back the registry files. Stupid Sony why bother patching one exploit and leave other known ones open?

[MENTION=7]atreyu187[/MENTION] , did the system force a reformat on u? when I changed my cma id to all 9's, which I posted a picture of, the system forced a reformat on me possibly since the content on the memory card didn't confer with the correct cma id. anyway, what's odd for me is that both my vita and my pstv seem to have the same cma id yet they can't use one an others content. and, the cma was the same without my doing?

edit: maybe u can't transfer from a vita to the pstv and vice versa? maybe u can only transfer between the same device?
