PS3 VM0 file

So ive been looking around my hard drive and I discovered a file called VM0 under /dev_hdd0/vm/ and its 500 mb, I've searched around to see what is that file and what does it do and I couldnt find anything, I would like to know if anyone got any information about it and if its possible to delete it to recover those precious 500mb

Thanks

Probably swap file like i.e in other unix-like operating systems swap partition or in Windows family "pagefile.sys".

If it is "not needed", You can delete it, but if I have right, on next boot PS3 will ask for mandatory firmware installation.

When I delete this file, turn the PS3 off and on again, the file reappears and the storage increases. I'm currently trying it with a 1TB HDD and I'm still gaining storage, almost 60GB so far.
