  • Hey there, I decided to stop lurking everywhere for a bit and made a simple cross-platform VPK editor that allows you to modify the livearea graphics of any VPK!

    FEATURES:

    • Multi-platform!
    • Opens any VPK file designed for the PS Vita
    • Let's you change the icon, the livearea icon, and the livearea background image
    • Automatically converts the images (from JPEG or PNG) to the correct bit-depth (8 bit) supported by the PS Vita
    • Mai Dump ZIP support
    • Basic XML editing

It is currently available for Windows, Mac (+ x64), Linux, and 64 bit Linux. It runs on all these platforms natively so there won't be any issues with file speeds and compatibility. If there's any interest i'll definitely be updating it to support editing the template.xml so everyone can easily edit the LiveArea text that is displayed. If you need to contact me directly just tweet me for a quick reply or status update.

  • Just updated to 1.2!

Fixes the window size bug as well as adds basic XML editing.

This update will pave the way for easier XML editing for all VPKs!

I didn't even know about this app. it would've saved me the time of changing the text (ur0:shell/db/app.db) and background images (ur0:appmeta/title id/livearea/contents). I did that stuff today on the pstv. it was a bit frustrating to redo everything after removing the memory card, but I managed. :-P

Only background must be PNG 8bit (without indexed transparent). Other can be normal quality 24 bit PNG.

@pinky I using 7-Zip. VPK is just a ZIP Deflate, You don't need any special tool. ;)

well, the games I installed the appmeta for were the ark, adrenaline, and vhbl. I just copied over the content from the usb to the ur0:appmeta. I had thought for the longest time that ur0 was the internal memory card, but it's just a partition of the card apparently. I have ux0 and ur0 on my pstv with no memory card inserted. I just made a backup of it, so I'm going to insert all 3 of my memory cards and format each one so that I can sell 'em. and, I have a backup of my internal memory card in case I have to redo things. :D
