PS3 Webman don't show up w/USB

Forum Noob
Hey guys
I'm a newcomer in the forum and a noob in PS3 as well.
When i was getting used to use webman, something strange happened.
It doesn't show up with hen if my External USB HD is plugged in the USB of the console, making webman unavailable to use.
The only way i can use it again is restarting the PS3, turning on hen and webman, and just then plugging the USB external HD.
Is that normal? Is there any fix?
Thanks in advance!

look in the root of the drive. if a file named boot_plugins.txt is there, delete it. the file tells hen which plugins to load at boot. the feature is used for troubleshooting.

Hi there! so i deleted it but it didn't fix it :/ my webman still don't activate with my external HD plugged.

if there is another usb drive plugged in, it could also have the file.

not sure if it would help, but if it was my ps3, i would try to reinstall webman mod. if that did not help, i would reinstall hfw and hen. but i would unplug the drive while reinstalling everything.

i will check if the file is on my usb drive. and i already try reinstalling all of that before and it din't work. pretty odd tho

Quick update it didn't work
I deleted it the USB drive but it still gets back in the PS3 files and USB drive as well after i reboot the PS3.
I will try to reinstall the CFW and hen but the thing is i don't think i can update the CFW without the USB drive with the update file.

What size USB drive is it? What file format are you using? To help we need more info as depending upon your setup it could be different things.

It is possible that your external HDD has a large amount of games or the name of some game could be breaking the XML. This happens specially if the file names contain non-ANSI characters or the file names are too long.

I recommend to move all these folder: GAMES, PS3ISO, PS2ISO, PSXISO, PSXGAMES, PSPISO, BDISO, DVDISO, ROMS, ISO out of the root folder and check if webMAN MOD scan the content. Try moving the folders one by one until you identify the game causing the issue.

If webMAN MOD loads (you can verify it pressing SELECT+START) you can go to /setup.ps3 and increase the setting for memory usage. Save the settings and refresh XML or run prepISO.

omg it actually worked! but now how can i move the folder one by one? i have to use my computer to move the folder back to the root, plug it in the PS3 and then reboot it to activate hen?

You can move the folders using a File Manager like multiMAN, IRISMAN or ManaGunZ.
You also can move the folder connecting the USB drive to the computer, moving the folder and connecting the USB drive back to the PS3.

You don't need to reboot the console. You only need to run preISO or refresh XML to rescan the games and wait until the scan is done.

You will have to repeat the steps until you find the folder that is causing the issue.

how can i refresh XML? i don't use preISO
my main problem is that the webman don't activate with my hen if my external HDD is plugged.
so what i was thinking to do was moving the folder gradually and activating my hen to check if my webman will shouw up or not.
if there's a way to disable and enable hen without restarting the PS3 would be also easier!

Do you have any advice regarding an external NTFS USB HDD not recognized in WebMan? I am trying to copy ISOs from my PC to my PS3 internal drive, but I'm not sure how...
