I was also thinking about another thing we may do. Am not sure if it's really needed, tell me what you think...

When we uncheck the Remove Singstar Icon option, shouldn't it actually restore that stupid icon?
Because as is, no xil2 game column icon will come back until the user intervenes manually...
I know Singstar is a nuisance for most but some users might still want it back or whatever else xil2 may display in the games column ...

If you decided to implement this, you could just use the old singstar.h code. It would do the trick perfectly as creating a 0 byte db.xml actually resets xil2 game & reinstalls it all. Basically the way the code was, wMM kept reinstalling the Singstar icon instead of removing it. LOL.

Yes, I agree that it would be better to restore the icon if the option is disabled.

As I can't test the feature, I would prefer that you do the changes to the latest commit:

Me again, with another problem with webMAN_MOD_1.45.00_Updater.pkg =)

Again, totally clean PS3, just downgraded. Put on Rebug 4.80.1. Enable Webman, enable Cobra.
Restart
Install WebMAN MOD 1.45.00 and install the update with FULL.
Restart
Go into webman settings. Set dynamic fan control.
Enable Auto-Play.
In the browsers tools, set Confirm Browser Close to False (closes automatically without asking).

Install 2 ISO games and refresh XML. Restart.

Both games show up fine but they only start to a black screen. I start them from the dashboard directly (WebMAN Games / Playstation 3 / select game).
It mounts it in the browser, browser automatically closes and WebMan MOD automatically launches it.

I have to hold the power button to shut the PS3 down.

If I, in WebMAN setup, disable "Auto-Play" and start the game manually from the dashboard, it works fine.

I guess its TOO fast now? =)

Thanks, but i have a problem at the webman folder "playstation", ps3 with cf 4.80 rebug cobra.
the iso psx are into hdd internal, inside have 200 iso but webman show me only 67 and stop read at letter "D". Anyone can help me?

You need to select different memory profile in webman settings, for that big psx collection. Here is more info (not sure that values are still the same in latest webman mod):

Does the black screen happen on both games?

Could you verify if the black screen was only a coincidence when "Auto-Play" was enabled?
(Sometimes the console could still be doing other tasks in background when you launch a game, specially after a start up)

I don't see any reason for Auto-Play could be causing a black screen on your games.

While the Auto-Play option is selected, please don't press any button and let the plugin start the game.

These values are still the same ;)

Regarding my disk issue with wMM, I tested a 1TB usb drive and a 2TB usb drive with the following results:

- prepNTFS 1.15 can scan successfuly (no freeze) my 1TB usb drive while using wMM 1.45.00.
- prepNTFS 1.15/1.14 will freeze my ps3 after scanning my 2TB usb drive while using wMM 1.43.36 or 1.45.00.
- prepNTFS 1.15 can scan successfuly (no freeze) my 2TB usb drive while using wMM 1.43.35 or lower version.

Freeze only occurs in wMM 1.43.36 or higher version when I try to scan the drive contents with prepNTFS. It has never occurred before and I've been using the 2TB usb disk for quite a long time now.

Any ideas on this?

Thanks again.

At what exact point does it freeze?

prepNTFS works independently of webMAN. The only interaction with webMAN is sending 2 requests via network interface: 1-unmount before start scanning, and 2- refresh xml after scanning.

Have you scanned the 2TB for cross links or bad sectors?

Have you tried more than 1 time to confirm the freeze?

Yes, both games.
Tried 3 games now. 1 ISO and 2 XEX(?`) games (in GAMES folder). Not pushing anything after starting the game.

Confirm Browser Close OFF and Auto-Play ON = Black Screen.

Confirm Browser Close OFF and Auto-Play OFF = All games launch fine.

Confirm Browser Close ON and Auto-Play ON = All games launch fine.

Thats why I mentioned it being too fast now with a smiley. With Confirm Browser Close OFF and Auto-Play ON it launches the game so fast that the image for the disk has not even appeared yet. Not sure if that matters, but as soon as I introduce a delay (Me starting the game manually with Auto-Play OFF or I have to close the browser manually with Confirm Browser Close ON), it works fine.

The freeze occurs approximately 5 seconds after reboot:

After starting prepNTFS, PS3 reboots, XMB starts listing my folders, then total freeze.

I have only scanned the disk on the pc via windows "scandisk" tool with no problems found (haven't done the thorough analysis yet). Nevertheless, isn't it strange that no freeze occurs in 1.43.35 and all the ISOs get listed, and also IRISMan File Manager can read/copy/paste content from the 2TB disk?

Yes, without exaggerating, I've tested the freeze more than 10 times. The first couple of times it occurred after installing wMM 1.45.00 and running prepNTFS 1.15 caught me by surprise and the ps3 forced me to format HDD due to corruption (It always found an error while trying to restore at 24%).

Note: And it keeps freezing on a loop cycle everytime it reboots unless I'm fast enough to run prepNTFS again with the 2TB disk unplugged. Then it won't freeze after the scan/reboot.

So now I'm using a fresh formatted HDD with wMM 1.43.35 because right now it is the only solution I have found to avoid any freezes.

Please try with this *test* build:
http://aldostools.org/temp/test/webftp_server.sprx

In this version, the plugin now forces the browser to close and always return to webMAN Games folder on XMB (like it does when autoplay is enabled).

It also includes a cure for SingStar adware if the option "Remove SingStar icon" is checked (thanks to @bguerville) and allow to restore the SingStar if the option is unchecked.

Two new features are the options "No SND0.AT3" to prevent big noise when a game is auto mounted at start up and "No Auto Power Off" to prevent turn off the console if FTP is active. Both ideas are from the contributor 444nonymous.
(Previously "Auto Power Off" was prevented only if "USB Polling" was enabled, now they are two separated settings)

444nonymous also shared a muted coldboot sound, which can be very useful for people dislike the noise at startup (like I do). Maybe @0_obeWAN or other modders could make a coldboot sound collection including it:
https://github.com/aldostools/webMAN-MOD/files/519806/coldboot-muted.rar.pdf
(rename the ".pdf" to .rar)

@ex05 I still don't understand your issue. prepNTFS is used only to generate the .ntfs[*] files from a NTFS disk. And the tool is launched manually. It's only needed if new content is added to the disk. How does it affect the boot of your console ?

BTW prepNTFS does not perform any reboot of the console. So if it is rebooting, it is not normal.

Correct, I wrongly described the situation: launching the prepNTFS does not make the console reboot - at least a full reboot. After launching prepNTFS I get:

- Black screen
- Usb disk shows activity
- Lights on the LED show intermitant green/yellow colors.
- XMB reappears
- Popup notice: "game quit: no request event"
- Popup notice: "Refresh XML: OK"

I assume all of this is normal.

My issue is:

If I launch prepNTFS to scan my 2TB disk contents while having the wMM 1.43.36 or superior installed, I get exactly the same thing except the ps3 freezes 5 seconds after the "refresh XML: OK" pops up. Don't even have a clue how all this can relate to it.

Thank you very much either way and keep up the excellent work!

Just back online after a nice family Sunday. [emoji6]
You seem to have changed your mind & done the Singstar icon restoring on setup option unchecked yourself already?
Do you still want me to look into something?
Test it maybe?

When you run prepNTFS, a freeze happens 5s after Refresh xml pop up?
You need to hard reboot but does xmb freeze on loading after hard reboot?

Have you checked the /dev_hdd0/tmp/wmtmp folder after the hard reboot? Did prepNTFS produce all the required ntfs shortcuts in /dev_hdd0/tmp/wmtmp folder?

If the ntfs shortcuts are all there, after the hard reboot, leave prepNTFS alone & launch a Refresh Xml directly from webMAN-MOD, does xmb freeze?
