I have 2 issues so far.
1) The checkbox for Singstar remains checked after unchecking & saving. I cannot test the icon restoration.
2) Somehow wMM won't mount a JB game on internal hdd with 1.45 build 00 or 01. Am not sure what's going on because this game mounted fine with wMM just a few days ago.
For info, mmCM still mounts it fine without using bd-mirror in settings, the only game setting being "internal".

Ok... let's do this:

"Could you try launching webMAN-MOD with Cobra instead of Rebug?"

Ok!

"With FTP or whatever, rename /dev_hdd0/boot_plugins.txt to /dev_hdd0/boot_plugins.txt.bak."

Done.

Note:

boot_plugins.txt contained only this line as expected, I guess:
/dev_hdd0/plugins/wm_vsh_menu.sprx

"Then create a new boot_plugins.txt containing only one line :
Code:
/dev_hdd0/webftp_server.sprx

Copy it to /dev_hdd0."

Done!

"Get the latest webftp_server_full.sprx from /dev_hdd0/game/UPDWEBMOD/USRDIR/pkgfiles.
Copy it to /dev_hdd0 & rename it webftp_server.sprx"

Done!

Finally, launch the Rebug Toolbox & disable webman in the selector column.

Reboot.

Done!

Do you have the same problem?

Yes! I got frozen a few seconds after rebooting :)

- The freeze still goes on after hard rebooting.
- Disabled Cobra mode after another reboot via rebug's "custom firmware tools" in the XMB and stopped the freeze (totally forgot FTP - didn't test if it kept on during freeze - and acted on instinct).

Now reverting back to the LITE version.

Update:

So I reverted back to the previous state:

- restored the .bak boot_plugins.txt to its original state "boot_plugins.txt"
- backed up the "boot_plugins.txt" with the "/dev_hdd0/webftp_server.sprx" line
- turned back on Cobra and integrated webman via rebug tool
- went to wMM setup and checked the "disable content scanning on start" option as your suggestion.
- tried another round of webman booting via Cobra-only after setting it all up again
- after setting up everything and rebooting... I got no freeze... but strangely enough, even though the "webman loaded!" pops up at start, I have no Webman option/icon in the XMB.
- I rebooted again with the same results.
- I re-transferred "webftp_server_full.sprx" and renamed it to
"webftp_server.sprx" again, just in case, and rebooted.
- Same results: no freeze... but... no webman option too.

Ok. I didn't expect it to solve your problem however it makes testing easier now because all you need to do is change the /dev_hdd0/webftp_server.sprx file & reboot.
Use ftp & swap this file with whatever version you want to try.
You can get the various webftp_server.sprx versions from the corresponding version of the wMM pkg file.
Either extract it on PC with Aldo's PKG viewer or install the pkg on PS3 then copy the files manually like you just did.
Another way to get the files is to use the github repository which keeps all the files' versions.

I've uploaded a new package:
http://aldostools.org/temp/test/webMAN_MOD_1.45.01_Updater.pkg

The issue #1 should be fixed... there was a conflict between the settings "ss=1" (used to Remove SingStar Icon) and "pss=1" (used for SHOW TEMP combo).

The issue #2 is harder to tell what's the cause... In this test build, the setting for "PLAY DISC: L2+START" is used also to enable/disable the new option that close all subfolders in XMB even if Auto Play is disabled. Please mount the JB game with that option checked and repeat the test with the option unchecked.

I suspect of this feature, because I had issues with it while I was developing the new version of VSH Menu.

I'm going to rest now... so do not expect for a reply very soon ;)

No problem. You stayed up all night just like me. Am going to test this then do the same thing as you!
Speak about all this tomorrow. [emoji6]

Immediately after this happened:

I followed your advice and started testing a couple of .sprx from multiple versions. Here are the results:

1.45.0.1 - Full - still no no webman in xmb.
1.45.0.1 - Lite - still no webman in xmb.
1.43.0.5 - Full - webman reappears in the XMB! Refresh XML: OK, prepNTFS: OK!
1.43.0.6 - Full - webman is still there! then after 5 seconds, freezed.

- reverted back to 1.43.35 Full.
- now falling asleep.

@aldostools

Here goes.
1) Singstar
The problem with the checkbox in the setup page is now solved but the icon does not come back.
I know why though. [emoji6]
We are deleting the wrong db.xml to restore xil2 game. The reason for this is that when we remove Singstar by deleting NSXWSV-PN.P3.XX-XMB_COLUMN_GAME.xml, some sorting is done in the xil2 folder & the '/dev_hdd0/tmp/xil2/game/XX/c' folder gets emptied with only a tiny db.xml (36 bytes) left, reduced to <xml> tags only.
The NSXWSV-PN.P3.XX-XMB_COLUMN_GAME.xml gets moved to its own numbered folder inside the '/dev_hdd0/tmp/xil2/game/XX/t' folder & the important db.xml referencing NSXWSV-PN.P3.XX-XMB_COLUMN_GAME.xml is to be found in '/dev_hdd0/tmp/xil2/game/XX/t'.
If we delete this db.xml instead of the empty one & reboot. Xil2 will do its job & restore everything else including the Singstar icon.

So basically all you need to change is one single character in the source code, when building the path to db.xml for deletion, use '/dev_hdd0/tmp/xil2/game/XX/t' INSTEAD OF '/dev_hdd0/tmp/xil2/game/XX/c'. [emoji6]

2) JB games
Spot on. You are right, I disabled the combo & the JB games mounted without problems.
The funny thing is, I reenabled it & JB games kept mounting...
So I tried disabling/enabling/rebooting & testing until finally they stopped mounting again.
There is a conflict somehow as you suggested.

Let me know if you need me to do anymore testing. [emoji5]️

1- Now db.xml is deleted from 't' folder.
2- It probably kept mounting because I completely removed the code that forced the unload of the web plugins (the same function used by /install.ps3 and /download.ps3 to unload the plugins). So it seems that I don't have to change nothing.

So now it only calls explore plugin. For now I left active the option to disable the feature that close the folders if "PLAY DISC" combo is unchecked. In the future I could be moving the option to a separated setting.

This is the new *test* pkg: http://aldostools.org/temp/test/webMAN_MOD_1.45.01_Updater.pkg

Regarding ex05's issue, my suggestion is that keep using 1.43.35 until a solution can be found. ATM I can't dedicate much time to this issue.

No problem. Will test this new pkg when I get home later on & report. [emoji6]
Don't worry, you are doing plenty already. ex5 will understand.
If he comes back online, I will try to get more answers...

@psydefx
If you want to test the different types of reboot
/reboot.ps3 - hard reboot
/reboot.ps3?soft - soft reboot
/reboot.ps3?hard - hard reboot
/reboot.ps3?quick - quick reboot (load LPAR id 1)
/reboot.ps3?vsh - reboot using VSH command (same as /restart.ps3)

I don't know to create Audio boot and for what I see there are risks to soft brick :( Not for me too dangerous
This one will be great ^^

Yes, that sound is very cool... a PS3_EXTRA collection of sounds from you would be really cool too (if you learn how to do them, or at least collect ones already available).
.
I can confirm that the muted sound files in the link that I posted above are safe (at least with Rebug 4.80.1) ... I'm currently using them.

The new test build still does not restore Singstar icon. Strangely the behaviour when deleting xil2 files manually by ftp & by code seem to differ...
I dunno why yet.. Maybe it is due to webMAN-MOD repeating the restoration routine & deleting db.xml at every turn...
Have you changed any part of the code except the folder change "c" to "t"?

Am not sure at this stage, could you please send me your latest singstar.h so I can tweak this thing once & for all?
Edit: singstar.h is not enough, make that the whole wMM source because I need a working checkbox... Thanks. [emoji5]️
