Off topic, I wonder is there a way to use this view for games somehow. I think there might be. Its much better for scrolling big lists.

From tests I know that the XMB can display this view in the game category.

This is just images shown, maybe webman can detect when an image is made full screen and mount the corresponding game. I dont know, random idea. :)

I will try getting games to display like this, the key might be in the registory.xml, not sure.

Maybe remapping the plugin used when you press X to wm_proxy.

If that works, the file name of the picture could be used as key to find the path of the game to be mounted.

How do you get that view? Do you know what plugin it calls?

I just added a load of covers to an album, also I added this to bottom of category_game.xml queries so they show up in game, just to see if the XMB could handle that view in game.

I dont know about plugins tbh.
Code:
<Query
class="type:x-xmb/folder-pixmap"
key="seg_hdd_contents"
attr="seg_hdd_contents"
src="sel://localhost/ex?root.view_selected.photo"
/>

Nice... Another way could be polling if the photo plugin is loaded and use explore commands to close the view and mount the game. The problem is to know which photo is being viewed.

The file name must pop up in RAM I suppose or somewhere as it gets passed from XMB to one of these?

Photoviewer plugin I guess. So just need to find out where and scan for it maybe, like if "BCUS90491.JPG" is detected then mount Killzone 3. Would a RAM dump done after viewing loads of these covers help?

You can use /vshplugin.ps3mapi or /gameplugin.ps3mapi to check which processes are running ;)

Use /dump.ps3?lv2 to get the dump of LV2 or /dump.ps3?full for all memory

@aldostools Just realised, this view actually has some REALLY cool advantages. We can make custom albums on the PS3, and add any images we want to them, so games can be organized 100% freely into custom sections, as easily as images.

also, viewing the game cover big like that for a second to mount game is kind of ok.

I don't really know how to use any of those, me noob. :)

I can dump the ram and check over it in HEX for the JPG names though?

You can use them to view the lists of process...
e.g. Run it before open the photos, check the list of processes listed in /vshplugin.ps3mapi
Then open the photos, there should be a some new processes (maybe photoviewer_plugin)

I would love to be able to do that, is there a tutorial anywhere or whats the story? Also i would like a tutorial on setting up socat debug output thingy, i had that set up once but I forget how.

BTW: changing the sorting needs to be done in the photo category, then when you go back to game and press square once it applies.

One cool thing, then it seems that we can have 2 different sorting methods going at once in the same category. So PSN games listed normally, and Covers showing in albums, this is kind of cool. See video for example.

Bonus feature: if you games are actually images too, then when you cant find a game to play, you can do this :D

No, there is not a tutorial, but it is not difficult to use if you access /home.ps3mapi

For socat, first replace stage.cex in /dev_blind with debug version, then use:
socat -u udp-recv:18194 stdout
Here is a post from @bguerville explaining it very well:

Cheers, got the payloads, getting set up now. Got a few other things to do, but will get back this later tonight.

There has to be a way to read the files being accessed.

Some other benefits of using images like this, users could use full resolution covers so they look nicer, you can add a comment to the info, change the name without changing the file name (i think). Also all images have the correct proportions, handy for PSP/PS2 etc.

Ok, so every time i click an image, this happens:

upload_2019-4-23_21-47-8.png

The one i clicked is always the first one listed, So it was NPEB01356 in this case. It looks like it then caches a few of the surrounding images. NPEB02369 was to the right , and NPEB01303 was to the left of the one I chose.

I suppose if webman mod can read this too we are sorted, I guess its not that easy? :D

This looks promising, but needs further research... maybe some tweak in Cobra or MAMBA to get that log easily. I still have some to-do's pending with webMAN too.

Also, it always does this when you first enter the folder, this could be used to start detection maybe and to let webman know exactly what covers (games) are available. I suppose it could even create download links for covers not in the list or some other fancy way of keeping the image folder synced with the actual games found
