Hi folks. Long time lurker first time poster.

So I'll try to make this as succinct as possible.

Was on evilnat 4.88 wanted to upgrade to 4.89.1 beta
Went to recovery usb install
Didn't realize ACiii disk was in my console and downgrades 4.21 Ofw
Browser didn't work so couldnt use bgtoolset
Then upgraded to 4.89.1 hfw. Browser works have newest HEN

I bungled it, I'm aware. I'm pretty sure it's just a sit and wait situation. But was trying to see if there was a way to downgrade at this point using HEN.

Original FAT min version 1.0

Sorry but you'll have to wait for the bgtoolset be compatible with 4.89 FW

Well shoot alright. Y'all have been doing a great service. I can wait. I was trying to play an ISO of def jam ffny. So I guess I'm repackaging to get it to work.

No. Unlike Rebug REX or Lite, it is not patched.
Evilnat's emer_init.self uses /dev_bdvd/PS3_UPDATE/PS3UPDAT.PUP like OFW.

@Evilnat commented that this fix is done for the next release of his CFW.

Aldo, can we swap the emer_init.self from 4.46 to newer firmwares? 4.46 supports larger HDD sizes than newer firmwares,

E.g 2TB HDD will work on 4.46 recovery menu but on newer firmwares will say HDD not supported

i haven't done that kind of test. emer_init.self is part of Core_OS. Mixing versions of core files may result in a brick.

You cannot swap the file without rebuild PUP and re-install the CFW.

Do not try to swap it unless you have a hardware flasher.

You could write an alternate emer_init into your active ROS in the unused FFFF space and change the appropriate ROS TOC entry to toggle between the original and the alternate version. It would only require a few lines of C code or one could mod the old ps3xploit flash writer to do just that.
This technique has been used before.
That would avoid the firmware installation.

However like Aldo said, one way or another, using PUP or ROS patches, don't do such tests without a Hardware Flasher at the ready, even the best and most experienced of us manage to brick from to time when testing stuff like that.
