'Welcome' post suggestion

Hello @STLcardsWS and hello @Grimm :)

It is just a light suggestion as I don't consult it with @Lambada and @bguerville or @Coro. So if someone have objections I will be glad for delete or close this thread.

@Lambada welcome me with a really nice post which could be posted automatically to every newcomer IMHO.

There are two things I would like to add to this great post:
  1. Link to 'Site/Forum Rules & Guidelines'.
  2. Advise I got from @bguerville.
There are several restrictions imposed on new members, they are automatically lifted after a few approved posts.
Also every contributor is different, some will gladly use pm for technical support & enquiries while others won't.
Generally speaking, it's better for devs to answer support related questions publicly in the forum anyway so others can benefit from the Q&As.
I suggest using the mention system if you wish to address a dev in particular in a thread, he/she will invite you to continue the conversation by private messaging if/when appropriate.

Original welcoming post from @Lambada you will find below. It is very kindly and informative.

Welcome to the community, @Aoi ! If you want to learn, here is the place.

If you need help, have questions, problems related to hardware, do you want to ask how to clean or apply thermalpaste, or just want to talk about games, go to PS3 General Discussion.

If you want some step-by-step guides, or do you want to check PS1, PS2 and PSP compatibility lists go to Tutorials & Guides (pretty self-explanatory)

Do you want to keep updated about software made by the developers of the community go to PS3 Homebrew. There you can softwares like Managunz, Irisman to load games and content management, Retroarch (emulation), Apollo (Backup Saves, Cheat engine, etc) and plugins like PSNPatch (to block and erase online PSN logs to keep you safe and stealth from ban), WebmanMOD were you can also load and transfer games and many more stuff, like FTP.

If you want to free / unlock / jailbreak your PS3 or anything related to Custom Firmware (CFW) or HEN, go to PS3 Jailbreak CFW and PS3HEN.

And there is still Game Mods and Translations and Hardware mods if you want to go beyond and pimp your PS3 (with custom FANs, LEDs, painting, cases, etc).

And if you are a developer check Homebrew Development for interesting stuff and debate.

More files, pc-ps3 tools and downloads in PSX-Place? Go to Resources.
Also visit Brewology site for PS3 homebrew softwares.
PS3 Wiki? Curiosities, specs, details and nerd infos about PS3 go to PSDevWiki.

Have a great time here.

I don't know if it is generic but @Lambada is not a moderator and I am not a detective;) However I feel real good with this guidline.

I know @Coro have a links in a signature and he was a first who say 'welcome';) I appreciate it:)

BTW
I have a great time here so I'd like to say :love heart:thank you very much:love heart: to all the users I met so far. I hope you won't be angry because of my proposition. As I am new here it's uneasy to propose anything.

About Lambada's post: PSX-Place is not only PS3 forum but scene forum in general (mostly PS3, and definitely mostly Sony oriented) so it doesn't have much sense to auto-scripting with useful links only to PS3 stuff and if we put the rest, it will be too long I think. :)

It could be shorter or more general (scene oriented). I leave everything to consider by decisive people. I'm not the one who have a final word here:)

Thanks @Aoi !
@Berion Oops, I subconsciously gave the welcome I wanted to have and that I think PS3 newcomers would want to have =O . I check mostly PS3 related things here because I don't have my PS2 anymore so I forgot that this community is more than that, lol. You are right.

For me it was perfect because fit ideally to my needs. But Berion's suggestion is right and could make your post better for the others.
BTW Good job @Lambada !
