PS2 What happened with jay-jay and OPL DB?

I already know that jay-jay is a megalomaniac idiot.

but I would like to know the whole story, since all I could find are very short mentions of what happened...

I'm asking this because the spanish community is filled of people who believe that OPL DB is the official OPL and that the official OPL is s fork that copies all the updates from OPLDB...

First of all... "OPL DB" is the fork and copies all updates from the official "OPL" as can be proven by referring to its/"OPL DB's" GitHub!

On top it says "forked from" (or similar) and then links to the repo of the official OPL!

That's UNDENIABLE proof!


Second... In EVERY SINGLE POST where an update to "OPL DB" is posted, it says that it is not the official OPL... So those people aren't just "mislead", but downright stupid, or blind, or can't read...



Regarding the persona Jay-Jay...
That's a different chapter to adress and it would take a while, to mention everything he did.

Starting with making it seem, that he is THE official developer and that OPL DB is THE official OPL...

the largest group of people that believe that OPL DB is the official OPL can be found on a spanish facebook group related to ps2, but i was banned from that group for saying that OPL DB is a fork of the official OPL.
but if you search on other spanish facebook groups youll find some of those idiots in a few minutes.

some of them realized that I was saying the truth, but the vast majority continued to argue till they ran out of arguments. concluding with "I like the PS1 page" and blocking me :culpability:
 
Are those people blind?

Can they read what is written at the logo? "Official Open PS2 Loader"?!?!!!

...or what about asking the actual developers of all those things mentioned in the changelog of OPL as well as OPL DB or even @Jay-Jay himself?
People like @Krah, @Tupakaveli, @akuhak, @Maximus32 and so on...!

Well then let them dream Opl was never Jay-Jays he never did anything but themes and would clame he was a dev. Simple relay tell them to look at sorce code for opl official. He did nothing even beta testing was not done by him. Fyi he even caused some developers to stop working on it from his . Sp and anoumous ps1 emu hacker.
 
Currently there is no need for that, because you can download latest beta from its source:
https://github.com/ps2homebrew/Open-PS2-Loader/releases.

Look for "Pre-release", for example: v1.1.0-Beta-1612-1b4d965.

I mean latest beta build is being compiled automatically when PR (pull request) is approved.

Theoretically the same thing could be done with other homebrew, for example with ManaGunZ also at GitHub.

Well, my suggestion is mostly a strategical counterattack to recover the name ownership
Make a bot to compile the "dailly build" every 24 hours (whatever is that code), and name the resulting binaries "Official OPL DB"

No... Just no... We won't spread the "daily bullshit"!

It will rather be replaced, made redundant and that stinking fish will rather be blown out of the water and the only "feature" it has (PS1-Page) being replaced by something WAY better!
 
Come on guys I don't know what you are talking about but why not make peace with whomever and maybe take a look at

Ratchet and Clank 3, SMB still broken since r793. And seems the problem has been still carried over to 1.0.
Was working with r792 and bunch of earlier versions

If the developers working in the official OPL creates a dailly build bot then that "Official OPL DB" will be the good one in the eyes of the newcomers because it have the prefiix "official". And the other "OPL DB" without the "official" prefix is the bad one

After that, if someone asks whats the difference in between the "Official OPL DB" and the other "OPL DB"...well... is self explanatory... all the noobs, newcomers, and negationists will understand it easilly by reading his names
The difference is one of them have the prefix "official" and the other doesnt, end of the story :)

i see people prefer daily build most because of the logo, theme and ps1 page, to tell the truth, never understand why official opl dont have a ps1 page.

Official OPL lets you list PS1 on the APPS page. This was originally to avoid POPS related liability concerns, and later became a symbol of respect vs disrespect on the developer-world-side of things.
A division was worsened by its addition, directly violating other projects terms at the time, and essentially reclaiming and infecting an entire systematic lineage of development into splintered, ended, or forever tarnished development.

Nowadays I think its more an open idea in development world, but because of its history - it will never be something incorporated on official. However, if implemented in a way that is different, I'm sure a properly built PR would be reviewed if someone was to try and successffully integrate such a feature.

There are other POPS options too than just OPL, such as POPSLoader or the XEB+ plugin popsy-x
