PS2 What the heck?!? ESR is not working!!

I'm trying to play Persona 3 FES. I patched the iso, I'm using Verbatim discs and when I open ESR GUI, it says unknown media type. What am I doing wrong!?
 
If drive didn't detect disc as DVD-Video, it means that disc existence wasn't detected at all (bad disc quality, bad burner quality, bad laser on PS2 etc.) or was rejected during detecting (e.g not patched game by ESR Disc Patcher).

I have a burned Persona 4 disc and it worked once. It's non of those you described.

I am aware that the Persona 3 FES takes a while to be read, so what is it supposed to say while I wait for it?
 
If Persona 4 working randomly it means that like in Persona 3 case, it is problem with disc existence recognition. ;) So as I said, Your disc quality could be horrible and/or disc burned quality could be horrible and/or burner is horrible and/or dirty or wear laser in PS2.

Console don't know what game is in drive, also don't reading in Your mind either.
 
He said about Verbatim in first post. ;) But if this is Verbatim from CMC Magnetics, we could expecting everything but not the good media.
