Which version of Retroarch for PS3Hen.

if there's no version specifically for hen,use CEX.DEX is for dev and converted consoles,ODE is for old jailbreak with usb dongle.

Its best to use CEX versions for HEN/HFW as that is CEX FW.

DEX versions are for DECH consoles and converts. ODE versions are for people with Optical Disc Drive Emulators.

is there a less "freezy" version for hen? i'm using 1.81 and more often than not the ps3 freezes whenever i exit a game.

Try v0.9.9 under previous versions. I personally use this.

Has a dated GUI but it works solid with HEN, based on my testing. (It might also be missing some cores, but none of the popular ones.) I too had freezes and other strange problems with the more recent version.

much appreciated mate, will give that a go.not really bothered about the dated gui, just trying to get all my roms under one roof.
at present im using the pgen and snestation ps2 emus along with a standalone MAME and things are getting a bit messy.
cheers

gave that a try, unfortunately theres no libretro core for MAME 2003 or PAL selecter for the Megadrive core.think my only alternative is Retroarch 1.81 for MAME,SNESStation for SNES and PGEN for Megadrive.Oh well....

ODE is not a jailbreak with a USB dongle... Its a hardware component (board) that needs soldiered in the PS3.
(Worse way to hack a PS3. but was only way for SuperSlims for a time until HAN then the much better HEN. )

PS3 version has a number of bugs, Overall its great but its not maintained very well by the official team these days for the PS3 Port.

There is some menu items that will freeze when accessed on the PS3. usually it just toggling an unsupported feature for the platform.
Some cores included have never worked and will not work on the PS3 (in current form), yet they keep being included when they are unusable.

after v1.0.0.2 builds are not very well optimized for the PS3 IMO. They are usable and you can enjoy them after but you will get freezes here and there and see some things not work., Which really annoys me and cant understand because the project is suppose to be about versatility and i think it puts a black eye on that, The thing is these issue are always well documented and they dont seem to want to take care of it and also seen developer submit fixes for them to only get ignored. Its odd they keep rolling out so many new versions that have flaws and are annoying to use.

thats a real shame as its a nice easy to use interface(my partner and daughter love retro games too but not really console "dabblers")
i tend to get around the game exiting freezing on 1.81 by going back to the main menu and resuming, then main menu again then stop content.seems to let me do it without freezing as much.cheers for the info.
