Why are websites promoting the terms "PS4 Jailbreak" when there is no jailbreak?

Sadly many websites are purposely misusing the term "PS4 Jailbreak" or "PlayStation 4 Jailbreak" to promote various game share tricks. While the writers and/or creators of these various sites know this is not a jailbreak or even remotely close to one, but they do know that the terms are very popular in search queries from google and other search engines. Thus, they can mislead people and confuse people in order to obtain some extra traffic to their websites. It's a shady practice to say the least (IMO) and it's going to cause nothing but confusion now and when an actual PS4 jailbreak does arise, as it will already of clouded the search results, making it a harder task for user searches. In my opinion not a good way to start off the PlayStation 4 Homebrew Community (before it even exist). News should be reported for what it is, not twisted to become more then what it is, in an attempt to fool the user.

These Game Share Tricks are not even news worthy IMHO as most are scams and the ones that do work promise many things that simply they can not promise or provide. Why get scammed for something that can and will get patched? It's not hard for Sony to patch PSN games and add new requirements on the PS4. As there is NO JAILBREAK and Sony still has the hardware locked down. Its not like the PS4 is homebrew enabled or has the ability to use a CFW. So everything is in Sony hands at this point (thus no jailbreak). So don't get scammed by any of these fake jailbreaks or these patchable game share exploits ..

Large and Small sites alike, lets report honestly for the benefit of the entire scene. Lets call these minor exploits or tricks for what they are PS4 GAME SHARE Tricks that are easily patchable.

Disagree all you want but the term, for me at least, originated there and when read, by me, still refers to phones. Just the way my mind is wired regarding jailbreak. But I will agree that it can/is a term that can be associated to opening a system up DRM wise. It just still feels phone hacking to me

Maybe started with iPhone but the first legit back for the PS3 was no doubt called the PS Jailbreak. When I think root I think Linux as that is where it originated but still applies to Android as it is just admin privileges.

Um geohot didn't do the first hack to the PS3 it was the PS Jailbreak team. He may have done the first CFW but that's about it. He tried to return OtherOS but didn't succeed till the entry point was released by the PS Jailbreak team and then their dongle payload reversed. Which all in all we can thanks Song for sending home the dongle in the first place with a system repair and their negligence implementing ECDSA.

But he was a 'driving force' in the news at the time which Groove shortly followed with a free alternative to PS Jailbreak. My memory is a little dazed on the subject. But yeah, I'll give you that one LOL

To think all this was done seriously because geohot was able to edit the colors of some XMB text. That lead Sony to remove OtherOS and geohots work on 3.21 followed by the 3.41 JB and finally geohots 3.55 CFW and I'm sure we All know the rest. Man those days were so exciting. I recall staying up hours on end to see the new software. And getting up so early to see what I missed. I was lucky I never jumped on wannikoko 3.55 v1 as I was running a NAND model and missed the PSP EMU brick as well. Never suffered a brick yet as I'm oh so cautious but intrigued all the same.

A lot of PS4s in Korea got banned already due to this stupid piracy hack. People are already selling those banned ones for cheap prices

FYI, I belive Kakaroto had the first CFW. I have made the mistake assuming geohot made the first one too.

But back to the topic, you are not "freeing" your consoles with these methods. All you can do at this point is pirate and help Sony figure our who to ban next. I agree they should not be called, hacks, mods, or anything of that sort. Call it for what it is, a game share exploit that should not have needed to be exploited.

How many remember game sharing on the PS3? IMHO, Sony once again dropping the ball here. They are getting worse and worse as time goes by it seems, which could mean amazing things for this scene.

Sony is not really dropping the ball as deactivating the master account or changing how a game is activated is only thing they need to change here. This makes all this pointless and not even news for what it is. ALL it does is OPEN THE DOOR FOR SCAMS.

I simply meant Sony dropping the ball in terms that the PS3 was a better console when it was released. It had backwards compatibility, otheros, the ability to share you account with friends, and the ability to share your digital game collection with friends as well. Or can you do that on Ps4, and these guys have figured out a way to make the sharing process more "permanent"?

You can share with the PS4, Sony went from 5 to only 2 and now its back up to 3 systems one can share with. Had I of not just gotten a new PS4 for only $110 I would have picked up one of the banned ones as long as it still allows you to play disc based content.

The thing they are talking about is nothing more then cloning your account using a hardware flasher by flashing your account info on to another system thus removing the three system limit.

Yea paid a bit for mine as well in hopes of their promised 3.50 Jailbreak not stupid downgrade. My PSYes had 3.50 spoof and first to use PSGrade as well as accepting just about any hex.

Yea and that is the premium Edition with the 2gb of added on space. At least it can be used at a flash drive then unlike the normal which is a useless turd except for FSM dongle.
