Will CFW bypass PS3 Data Transfer Utility limitations

Long story short is my PS3 slim died after house was struck by lightning. I had about 200 Singstar song downloads that are now gone. I repaired my old PS3 fat and recovered about 130 Singstar songs. I figured it would be easy to transfer all this data to a more reliable PS3 slim but the DTU has limitations specifically with Singstar purchases. The Singstar store no longer exists and it is impossible to redownload these songs.

From Sony website -
Limitations of the data transfer utility

Some types of data cannot be transferred using the data transfer utility, and some types of data can be transferred but not played on the destination PS3™ system.
For the latest information, visit the SIE Web site for your region. The following types of data are not transferrable:
  • Tracks (including "songpacks") for the SingStar™ software that have been saved in the system storage of the PS3™ system
Is there any method that will transfer everything from system storage to another PS3 console?

Thanks in advance

I heard Singstar for resources with songs using some per console encryption. I don't know the details or if it is truth.

If You hack Your console, then You will get access to all data on it. If NP Account ID match for both console accounts and both are activated, in theory You can just copy "dev_hdd0/game/<singstar id>" to new console plus creating RAPs from "dev_hdd0/home/<usernumber>/exdata/*" and forge RIFs from them on new console. If this will not work (I mean: no songs), it means that You must additionally decrypt all *.sdat/*.edat/*.mdat with songs and encrypt them again for new console.

AND: before hacking console or even using buggy DTU, create sector by sector copy of this disk. Just in case, to use later as eventual user data recovery.

Berion - Thank you for the information. I have used chdman from my days of coin op arcade game hard drive backups. Do you have another program that you would recommend for sector copy of a hd? I am new to this PS3 cfw scene and still need to figure out what many of the abbreviations are. I hope to solve this problem soon and learn something new along the way. Would you use rebug as the preferred CFW for this project?

CHDMAN (from MAME project right?) is designed for a little different purpose. On top of that, there is no one standard of *.chd (at least we have two popular because of wide range of use and some changes in newest container). Just use any standard tool for archiving/data recovery like i.e DMDE or HDD Raw Copy Tool (do not use *.imgc because it cannot be mounted outside this app). Also don't get me wrong: HDD "sbs copy" will not prevent You from a brick or something like that (firmware is not installed on HDD) but in case You will mess up with accounts, activations etc. this will safe Your data which can be retrieved on PC later (if You will have model on CFW can be installed, because only on CFW used encryption key can be retrieved) or restore it if needed.

In theory DTU shouldn't do anything harm but I have one situation when data wasn't restored on target console, and deleted from the source... for unknown to me reason. Also BDU is junk because will not restore data from protected archive on another console (because is encrypted by per key console).

Depend of HDD size, it is time consuming process.

And answering to question from thread title: no. No one hacked Data Transfer Utility or Backup Data Utility (I saw once some mod for Rebug to allow backup and restoring also trophies (normally excluded) but I don't know if it was real, never test it). They are works just like in original firmware.
