Hello)
I've use seagate barracuda 7200.10 - 320Gb Hdd with 102 images on it.
All work fine and run.

But when i connected it to PC by winhiip to delete some old images ( to add new after) half of images got status " bad.partn" wwith 0 Mb size and when i try to delite it - winhiip is crash.

How can fix bad.partn status?

You can delete partitions via uLE.

You can fix broken APA logic by HDDChecker (but make backup of important files before You use it, just in case).

BTW: Instead of WinHIIP, use HDL Dumb. It is better application.

Not sure that understood.... - if i delete partition by uLe - i will delete games?

What is HDDChecker ? - never used before

Isn't HDL Dump is application to apply "self boot image" to hdd (osdsys)?? - It can manage images (games) on hdd? How? 0_o

Games installed by WinHIIP, HDL Dumb, HDLoader or HDLGameInstaller are chain of partitions. So yes.

Isn't. ;) It is one of it's feature.

I recommending also to read:

How could I fix it by HDDChecker?
So, i choose first "Check disc for errors". Done.
Then try "Perform surface scan". Nearly 50 minutes and done.
Then try "Optimize disc". And after 5 minutes got message - " There was a problem accessing disk. The operation cannot be completed".
What could i do now?

I managed to delete 1 game by HDLdumb but cannot inastall new - install button not actived

iirc the delete game operation was removed long ago on hdl-dump...

If you don't care about the contents of your HDD you should format again with wLaunchELF 4.43a 41e4ebe or 4.43x_isr

also, you should avoid winhiip after that (it has troubles when handling wLE formatted HDD's)

You can try with HDL Batch Installer Instead!
https://www.psx-place.com/resources/hdl-batch-installer.1173/

"Check for errors" option should fixed for You any problems with HDD logic and native fs logic. If problem still occurs (i.e in HDL Dumb, do not use WinHIIP) then it means "hdd0:/__mbr" is damaged beyond repair and You should make copy of important data and format drive in uLE/wLE (any version or fork; PS2) or HDDChecker (PS2) or PFS Shell (PC).

"Optimize disk" defragmenting disk (defragmenting partitions). It needs enough free space to do it.

I would start "fresh". Get your important stuff (VMCs, etc.) off of it and make a fresh install.
  • Format via wLE
  • Create +OPL-Partition with a size of ~1GB
  • Install your games via HDL Batch Installer

I'm not sure if there is sense in making "hdd0:/+OPL". v1.1.0 (as current beta builds) could use any partition i.e the best place IMO for it "hdd0:/__common/OPL/".

The problem is that the user must create the file before launching OPL

Stop, stop stop....

- before format in uLe I need get all 102 games back or make backup cause i don't wanna loose it all!
So I took portable sata hdd formatted for ps2 needed. Then tried copy disk in winhiip. After 5 hours i've got the same disc as was - with same errors like bad.partn in status of images ( that cannot be copied\extracted or deleted )

So, is there a way to fix it without format hdd and loose all data?

Try copy games via IsoBuster on PC.
Things like saves, VMC, configs etc. anything which is worth to You some value, copy to USB via uLE (PS2) or via PFS Shell (PC).

WinHIIP have option to fix some "HDD errors" but hard to say if he not make situation worse.

@El_isra Indeed.

Well, i try to use HDL Batch:
f44b5cd4dd1c.png

total 305152MB, used 294912MB, available 10240MB
hdl_toc ---------

So, Nearly 10gb Free, but how to add game? - When i Push "search Game" button and choose my iso - I've got message :
Loaded: [0] PS2 Games
discarded [1] invalid ISO's

Maybe You have just no free space left at the end and it is not enough space on "hdd0:/__empty" partitions to put in those places game. Partitions must be in chain. In example, if You have reported 2GiB free space but between partitions are __empty by i.e 1GiB in different places, You cannot install there game exceeding 1GiB because there is no place for it. If this is true, Yours HDD logic is not damaged, just full (kind of...). :)

Show us screenshot from IsoBuster (free version is enough) from main screen where all partitions are listed.

Or another thing comes to my mind: You are trying to install game which is not PS2 game or not in mode1. But this is in opposite to error what WinHIIP returned in first post.

Into a 320GB HDD you can fit on average 105/115 games.

A couple clarifications:

1. Is not possible to delete games partitions with U/Wle.
2. You can delete games with HDL dump, the deleting option hasn't been removed.

Ad1. It is possible. ;) I don't know what partitions names creating HDL but HDL Dumb and HDLGI using "PP." which can be removed from uLE just like any other user partitions. By standard uLE, only system partitions cannot be (those which starts from "__") but this can be dealt with uLE kHn and probably uLE ISR HDD.

-no. I could delete games in winhiip with normal status (that's not bad.patrn), but add them back after that - no - winhiip said no free space anyway. Cause half part of games with bad.patrn has 0kb size and it can't recognize total hdd space, I've suppose...

or maybe this was better:

HDL dump said your file isn't a PS2 game.
If you take a look at the command line you'll notice that when a game is discarded it print's the reason HdlDump gave in red...
Two common outputs are:
  1. ISO Image isn't a PS2 game = it's actually an ISO, but it can't be detected as paw game (probably something wrong with ISO Image, like media type...)
  2. Input or output is unsupported = the file isn't an ISO Image (or that image is really f***ed up)
Option 1 usually applies to game mods (low quality mods done by noobs IMO)

Yes, that's right.
But for experiment i've took my old unnecessary 40gb ide hdd and load this iso ( that didn't want loaded by hdldumb) by winhiip - and it's work well. That means that probably hdldumb has some own bugs...

So, it's all well, but i still need restore my 320gb hdd with games...
And i see 2 ways:

First solution - Maybe there are more software tools to fix it .... ( no, it's worked well on deal with ps2 now, but i can't add\delete new ISOs - it's not work with winhiip or others)

Second solution - I need a detailed description of how to make a backup correctly on PC so that I can install it later again, and then format hdd by ps2 uLe own, to load games back correctly and have ability to add\delete games without

Please help me guys

Format with uLaunchELF 4.43a 41e4ebe (11-1-2019)
https://mega.nz/folder/50ITQSDI#nZfgmUpJiL8b8cPa8n8BeA

After formatting create +OPL partition with a decent size (something between 512mb and 1024

Then install FreeHdBoot (even if you don't want it, the FSCK utility is useful to warn you if something happens to the HDD) https://github.com/israpps/FreeMcBoot-Installer/releases

After installing FreeHdBoot restart the console without memory cards to see if everything is Ok.

Then you can go to your PC and install games

About removing games from any PC software...
You should avoid that, remove games via uLaunchELF HDDManager
