[Okay this is a work in progress, so lets all work together verteran scene user's and details some useful apps and functions to get everyone started on PS3 homebrew the right ways..Keep this link bookmarked and check back as we will be building and adding lots of resources to this thread over the next few days.

A bit of a mess currently Noobs but keep a watch on it and follow along to learn some things and please ask questions if you are not sure of something :)

The Essentials Apps​
  • Backup Manager's (one is all you need, but you can also have all installed. all 3 are excellent choices and all are very unique.)
  • ManaGunZ (Is performing well with HEN in Cobra mode, however some games need BDMIRROR )
  • IRISMAN (Now Updated to Support PS3HEN)
  • multiMAN (some games reported giving issues, that do not on CFW)
    • Useful Features (manager's in general):
      - File Manager
      - FTP Support (PC to PS3 Transfers)
      - Personal Backup Support
  • Media Center (plays many formats of media)
    • Movian (formerly known as Showtime)
  • Emulators

  • webMAN MOD - A forked version by Aldostools, that provide support for many additional features while containing the great foundation and core functionality of webMAN.

  • PS3 Tools Collection (for PC) - Built for CFW user's in mind but will have many great tools useful now for HEN user's

Tips & Tricks​
  • FTP Transfer's (files from PC to PS3 directly via local network)
    • via apps like: ManaGunZ, multiMAN, IrisMAN (okay every backup manager :) ) has this ability built in.
    • via plugins like: webMAN, webMAN MOD has this ability while on XMB , in game or in other apps as plugins are always running in the background.
    • Guide - How to successfully FTP huge amount of files
  • NoPSN Apps - These are the service apps (like netflix and others) that remove the PSN requirement so you can enjoy your subscriptions without a PSN connection.

  • File Manager's -All backup manager's will have their own unique file manager with all the functions needed for moving copying, deleting and transferring files.

(like in the form of a thread contribution, provide a tip, provide a favorite homebrew suggestion. Something you can help out someone entering in the homebrew scene for the first time. What would you of liked to know scene vets when we first came into the community)​

Yup so ftp will be easy without using PKG Linker and gain the double space needed to download and install

But why multiMan isn't give same compatiblity as on CFW Console ?
 
:) I added a new note about thread likes. when i ask for contributions i always get likes to the thread but little of what i am seeking..
So no likes.. @T.A.U gets a pass i added that after his like, but now he owes two contributions to the thread for starters lol.. :) .. j/k
 
I see that IrisMAN is mentioned, just tried the 4.84.3 version but it wont start. Gives the syscall old or not found error and gives me the option to return to xmb.
 
Can you explain to me what I should do with managunz, multiman and irisman? What differences do they have? Do I have to install all 3 of them?

you only need one, does not hurt to have all.

Try them all see what you like best.

multiMAN may need an update by @deank to fully support game backups. As some games are reported tohave issues.
Also the HEN may just need to evolve as well So we will have to stay tuned on that front, but the MANY other features multiMAN has should work fine on the HEN..
 
By the way, the main news quoted as features the possibility to use some CFW patches, but how does it work ? (remote play, cfw settings, etc). Is it included when we install HEN ?
 
I installed webman, then when I tried to enable hen, my PS3 freezed and orange led started to blink. Obs: webman folder(xmb) don't have nothing
How do I fix this?

The blinking led (orange) means that the games content are being scanned.
Go to http://127.0.0.1/setup.ps3, put a check mark on the option "Disable the content scanning at startup", then save the settings.
 
I installed a game. When I try to launch it via webman, the system just turns off. I mean there is no even red light. What's the problem?
