thats called the selfish bullshit that ruined every project what glory and what some one running things its just a freakn app
If he was selfish, then he wouldn't even let you play with his creation...
You should be grateful that he did. Nobody owes you anything, especially when it's done for free.
This is a PlayStation 2 console, a system that is quite low-level by today's standards. You need to do alot of things to make a great project. We don't even have a good development environment, for debugging and testing (unlike the PC, which has Microsoft Visual Studio etc).
there is no glory nobody cares you think when i install ps2 homebrew for my friends they ask who is the developer or who created them nope they just freakn play
I'm sure we're aware that there are lots of users like that, but yet lots of people have made software.
and if developers like the drama and glory shit and they wanna fell that a developer is a boss that aint gonna happen developers make apps for people to benifit from not for glory or running the whole project its selfish and not right to kill a project with you and not make others help and continue the project.
Okay, then what if you were a developer, and somebody kept overriding your wishes? Of if people used your software, in a way that you would disagree to?
You may find it difficult to understand, but an extreme example would be if the said software was used in a crime. Or if it caused an inconvenience for other people.
You ask the group of individuals to stop, but they refuse to. They act like they have the rights to hold negotiations. Some of them also say disrespectful things about you, even if you did not do the same. It's called, biting the hand that feeds you.
When you start on a project, you would have some goals, a vision. If you cannot see that anymore, why should you continue?
Why continue on a project, which became associated with grief and misery? It's not about what you think you wrote or did, but the effect that your words and actions had.
Where's the respect for the developer, as another human being?
not right to kill a project with you and not make others help and continue the project.
Even when people are abusive and toxic? Is it worth it then?
It is not even like he killed POPS. POPStarter is a project for booting the POPS emulator, but POPStarter is
not the emulator.
The emulator is still there. You can still use the old binaries that were released, to start the emulator.
If anybody has the skill to continue the project, then somebody would have created a new POPStarter. Having the source code for this project means little, if you cannot work on the POPS emulator.
POPS is closed source, so it cannot be changed significantly. I have doubts that it could really grow towards 100% compatibility.
If he released the source code, I am sure it'll end up like OPL and FMCB. Nobody will actually improve on it, but there will be copies.
But look, this isn't even about POPStarter. You may hate somebody, but don't bring that to another project. Especially when it started from another forum.
Does the author of this thread know what happened? Would he care about something that was a done deal?
If you really wish for a project to not die out, then make it worth the developer's time.
