PS3HEN Worth trading super-slim with PS3Hen for CFW compatible console?

Recently installed PS3Hen on my super-slim, but finding it annoying that I have to enable it each time I boot the console or exit out of a PS2 game, and put up with it failing on me occasionally... Thinking I'd probably be better off with a slim/fat console which can install CFW, although from what I've gathered it's also more risky in that Sony has a better chance of finding it on your console if you're online. Is it still worth the exchange? If so, should I rather look at a slim or fat model?

Hen is a good alternative for ps3 models that can't be dowgraded, but as all temporary mods, needs to be activated at console startup and it can be unstable sometimes. In my opinion, I think that if you want more compatibility and more features you can buy a slim cfw-capable console (be sure to ask for the serial code before buying); Slims are better to avoid overheating, typical of fat models and surely now you can find them at a good price, even tho also Fat models are still available but surely they have more problems and they could last not for long time. With Cfw you have more chances to be banned but there are lot of useful tools that you can use to avoid it as much as you can (there's still the possibility to be banned also with protections). Same for hen if you go online without protections

I would avoid the early model models if you aren't keen on doing some maintenance as they can suffer from YLOD. After fixing mine it's not only trouble free but actually runs cooler.

The other thing I'll say is avoid a CECHL-0X models. They are the bastard children of the PS3 systems. Prone to RSOD, NOR chip failure and it is the only system that uses PATA instead of SATA thus slowing down loading times. Not to mention some software just will not run on them.

The CECH-2501 is the ideal system but not all can be done with CFW. Only way to know for sure is run the MinVerCheck PUP. If someone won't do it for you or you can't for whatever reason I would still get a CECH-210X any day of the week.

Unlike the CECH-200X models they are not prone to overheat or YLOD. And every single one of them can take CFW. They have a bit smaller RSX so temps stay down & the NEC Tokin chips were no longer used which was the culprit or many models prior to this.

I have one of each 2100/2500 and have no issues with either. I only rip disc with the 2500 as if the BD goes bad it will still launch homebrew without a No-BD CFW as the daughter board is intergrated to the main board. So if it stops working nothing to worry about. This is the only system that can do this and take CFW to the few compatible models.

Hope it wasn't to much info but quick break down

2500>2100>2000>Any other system>Except CECHL-0X it's trash

If you want higher PS2 compatibility and able to play games direct from disc. The CECHA-00 & CECHB-00 (my favorite PS3) are the best as they are the only systems that rely fully in hardware. Replace the NEC Tokin caps, delid the system then used a 40gb PSU and it is a tank. It will last forever like this and it is the best setup for sure but tue most costly and timely.

The CECHB-00 doesn't have wifi but you can populate the hardware on the board and edit the firmware one byte with a NAND dump and it works. Still do not have the card reader but who uses that any how. If you are from European region you do not have these models. You can get one from Japan or the US but PS1/PS2/DVD are all region locked but can be bypassed using a Cobra CFW.

The CECHC-00 and CECHE-00 use half hardware and half software emulation but it's still pretty good and there is fixes for some games that did not work before. I would say full hardware is a out 98% and semi-hardware is somewhere around 80-85% but these will need the same things done to ensure longevity. With the CONFIG files we can play literally hundreds more games then OFW even using the non-BC models.

One more neat thimg that full hardware systems can do is use Open Loader to play games over the network which no other PS3 can do. Every other system has to play from the internal hard drive. I enjoy having all my files on a NAS/SMB so many systems can use the same drive and no file system limitations.
