PS3HEN Would it be possible to use KODI on PS3 now that hen is available?

The question is exactly this, would it be possible to create a kodi version for PS3 and run on ps3HEN? Thanks for the comprehension.
 
i do understand,but there's more or less the same stuff there,except IPTV which is really bad on movian.i'm afraid there isn't too much a demand of kodi being ported to ps3,even movian is slowly moving away with last version specifically tailored and optimized for ps3 being 494 cex that deank compiled well over a year ago and he moved on from ps3 scene...

i suppose if enough interest is shown maybe someone will try to port it but personally i just don't see it happening.

Actually it would because keep in mind how super difficult it was installing Custom Firmware (if you upgraded past 3.55 OFW) and having people needing to open up their console JUST to hack it in comparison to the Nintendo Wii and PSP of the time whereas it was super easy installing CFW/Homebrew Channel via normal methods, non-hardware required crap just to have the ability to do things.

Even look at the PlayStation 2 with their Free McBoot software and how super fast we got a port of PicoDrive (PSP Sega Genesis/Sega CD/32X emulator) and even RetroArch compared to back in the day where homebrew was far and few between and when was the last time the PS2 had updated PGEN and SNES Station since like what 2002 or 2003?....

So yes! PS3HEN is a VERY important achievement and step up compared to back in the GeoHot days of 3.55 and nobody in the scene had improved upon on that since! can't say it has!....

All Movian needs is to either update their plugins to that of a new URL the website's host changed to (wish you can change the URL yourself rather than having to rely on a dead/abandoned creator that long gave up and didn't care any longer) OR create some brand new plugins/port the Kodi plugins to a Movian one!

HEN has nothing to do with installing CFW. We have been able to that via web browser for over a year before HEN..

Well HEN has nothing to do with this ^^, we have not needed hardware for over a year to install CFW and HEN has not changed that at all.

Also, everything has changed since geohot. There is nothing that has not improved since then.

so then why was E3 Flasher and Cobra needed if you guys had the web exploit all along? couldn't you had not released that years ago by now?
 
Movian is absolute trash at this point!! The ram is too low to support even the most basic streaming without derping out and crashing the entire console. I bought a pi specifically to use for a Kodi box because Movian shows no signs of anything ever seeing another update. As much as I love the idea of one thing to rule my entertainment center, the $50 I spent on everything I needed to get kodi running properly was well worth every penny.

Cobra is still "needed" for lots of stuff, but it has nothing to do with installing CFW.

PS3xploit has been public for over a year before HEN released and it allowed CFW to be installed via a web browser exploit. HEN has not changed anything in relation to CFW installation.

HEN is a Homebrew ENabler for non CFW compatible consoles, that is why its not related to CFW installation.

Also, none of these exploits have anything to do with me, and afaik they were released very shortly after being discovered.


I agree HEN is really cool, but it changes nothing in relation to CFW or Kodi..that was my initial point.
 
By cobra i meant the ODE iso loader one you install to the motherboard and yeah i know HAN came before HEN, i was saying stuff that came long before HAN and PS3Xploit was a thing.

Also the lack of homebrew that Niander466 was trying to convey in his thread and you seeming like there was homebrew to begin when in actuality there kinda really sorta isn't per say unless you wanna count those super early af 3.55 Geohot 2008/2009 stuff that didn't went anywhere ever since, and i guess Multiman plus Backup Managers #84 aka ManaGunz Irisman clone Elite.

I really have no idea what you are trying to say now? are you saying there was no homebrew until HEN or what? I have been around here since day 1 of the 3.41 hacks..So what are you trying to say? What do I not know or what mistake is it you think I am making? :)

ODE has nothing to do with installing CFW either btw..
 
Lets rewind a bit , as you are changing subjects to ODE and CFW installation and really you seem to have not read my first 1 line statement in this thread

Seeing as we have had CFW for almost 10 years and it has not happened, I do not see HEN making any difference now.

Yeah i know ODE is not CFW, you not reading what i'm saying lol, but anyways yeah i actually did implied there is no homebrew during the beginning that made to significance change to the scene before 3.55, sorry that backup managers took over the community for the worst turn and yes i am aware of the early emulators and Super Mario War being the only honorable mentions and well deserves it's place.... But that being said after ever since once 3.55 was over, no other homebrew devs didn't bother making any worthy apps outside of maybe ALMOST a Sega Dreamcast (Gary Opa is to blame) and Nintendo 64 (PS364 during the beginning) emulators early on long before RetroArch put a halt to everyone's tracks, but what happened to those? Yeah it could been difficult to make those a reality but it didn't stop the PSP and Wii from continuing did it?

And now since we got HAN and HEN there should be some vast progress because of it's ease to make stuff on it.
