PS3 Yet another "I think I goofed this up" thread

I read some tutorials but assumed too much and formated my hard drive trying to get back to OFW from a CFW. What exact CFW I started with I don't remember which was a massive mistake on my part. I know I played with Rebug and HEN was running at one point too, but I did most of this months if not over a year ago.....I'm pretty sure HEN was the latest thing running though.

Now I am stuck at the Safe Mode/Recovery area, can't get into the XMB since I formatted that drive, and I can't get any firmware to work. I tried all of the latest rebug releases, it wants something 4.84 or higher but 4.85 OFW won't work either. The file structure is in the right order with Root>PS3>UPDATE>PS3UPDAT.PUP on multiple different flash drives. Any help would be appreciated!
 
If you were to leave a form of social media contact info I would be happy to video chat and help you as best as possible (if you do then use a disposable acc so you wont get spammed or compromised)
 
If no Rebug firmware works and not even 4.85 OFW installs then you probably need a DEX CFW, regular CEX one won't install.

Do you mean a screen like this but it says 4.84 instead?

Well, you could send to each other the contact info in a private message, but both you have very few posts in the forum though, by now your accounts have some restrictions that will expire automatically soon... not sure if you can create private mesages yet

I think a screenshot would be good. Really that screen you are describing is not the error I am looking for. What happens after you press Start and Select for a couple of seconds?

2nd post in the forum and trying to help people off site? Not saying this is the case at all, but i would advise the OP to be very careful in a scenerio like that. As We do not know you @Ty Doyle , OP is already getting help from known experienced people willing to do it in the forum. There is time's people will try and take people off site in order to trick them in some way. Again not saying this is the case but its something everyone needs to be aware about and those potentials.

Update: Ya it was the USB drives, sorry for wasting everyone's time. Something about making a Chromebook recovery USB key messes with the whole system, maybe its something to do with MBR? Found an old one in a drawer and it's currently updated to 4.85. Thanks for everyone's time!

Also Ty.....absolutely not.

I am sorry I did not mean it like that I am just better at working over social media. I am still new to the forums. But I just found out that there are personal messages so that will come in handy and your post about that will keep me safe in the future. Thankyou!

Yeah sorry Im just used to working over social media and to fix the USB sticks you may need to go to a partitioning app in order to do that and just delete the partitions. Windows 10 come with a built-in app for it, just type "partition" in the cortana search bar or how ever you prefer to search your apps.
