I made the mistake of converting a bunch of games to zso because the first one I tried happened to work so I just went ahead and tested all the files. Maybe someone can get some use out of the results.
I have a SPCH-39001, a SD2PSX from Phenom Mods, and used OPL v1.2.0-Beta 2223.
In general I would say it's not worth the time investment to find the few games that actually work. Out of around 350 games tested only 25 even boot into the game. That does include about 150 games on CD though and I stopped testing cause none of them worked. So if you take them out you get around a 10 to 15 percent chance of a DVD based game becoming a functional ZSO.
I turned on mode 1 for each game when trying to boot and none of the games that worked with it enabled stopped when I disabled it. I used both the ISO -> ZSO converter in OPL Manager and the latest ziso.py on OPL's github; not exhaustively but there were different results for the handful of games I tried with both.
