    PS3 4.93 Evilnat w/ Cobra v8.5 - (CEX/PEX/D-PEX)

In other words yes, PEX is better than CEX because it allows you to also use DEX if / when you choose, as well as CEX, instead of having to re-install if you wanted DEX functions.

    PS3 4.93 Evilnat w/ Cobra v8.5 - (CEX/PEX/D-PEX)

Is there a way to safely re-enable syscalls without a restart?

PS3 New Sony Patent May Point to PS3 Backwards Compatibility on PS5

Probably project managers / bean counters, answering to corporate, answering to oblivious shareholders who just want guaranteed short(ish) term cash for their investments. Coders don't decide what they code, and to a lesser extent, don't determine the quality. It needs to be done by Monday...

So just toggle this, don't need to restart after, correct?

PS3 New Sony Patent May Point to PS3 Backwards Compatibility on PS5

    >New Sony Patent May Point to PS3 Backwards Compatibility on PS5 Sony's new patent is titled "Backward Compatibility Testing of Software in a Mode That Attempts To Induce Skew." It describes a system to test software compatibility in a "time testing mode". Essentially, the system would create...

    PS3 4.93 Evilnat w/ Cobra v8.5 - (CEX/PEX/D-PEX)

Thanks!! And, just to confirm, that's all that is needed, right? Like I don't need to restart to apply, or change anything else before using the PSN Store? Apologies, I'm very new to all of this as I've only used the PS2 Fat + FCMB before which is of course quite straightforward to disable if...

    PS3 4.93 Evilnat w/ Cobra v8.5 - (CEX/PEX/D-PEX)

What is the easiest way to disable syscalls for PSN Store use? Like is it a button combo, or in a specific app or setting (and if so, where?) Would be nice if attempting to launch the Store prompted you with an option to disable it, and then there was an option to enable it when quitting the...

PS3 Ps3, lack of Trim and the potential for ssd use.

Hmm. I wasn't concerned about life, as it will just zero the block before write anyways. More concerned with the performance hit from needing to do that before every block write instead of in the background when idle via TRIM. That is still the case with SSDs, correct? They must clear a block...

PS3 Ps3, lack of Trim and the potential for ssd use.

My current understanding is that the modern SSDs can trim themselves if they know what blocks are free. Isn't the PS3 drive encrypted? Or am I missing something? How is the SSD to know which blocks are free?? EDIT: Basically, this...

PS3 PS3 Phat cooling upgrades (archived link as original is DEAD)

Yeah, after watching some of this it's a lot of the same. The article has links for parts etc so that's handy. But I haven't watched the whole video yet, werk soon. (Bleh)

PS3 Ps3, lack of Trim and the potential for ssd use.

Well, just ordered a used Samsung 870 EVO 1TB we'll see how it goes. To my knowledge, TRIM in modern SSDs was useful for making sure that you didn't try to write something then have to wait for the blocks to be zeroed first. Is that no longer the case? I knew that it wasn't a reliability issue...

    nobt and nobd evilnat

Still popped up when I was searching, which means it also does for other people who have no clue what a filesystem even is beyond something that they need to change when formatting for some reason. Not everyone has been immersed in tech for years, some are just diving in. *shrug*

PS3 PS3 Phat cooling upgrades (archived link as original is DEAD)

Came across this, thought someone should post the archived link in case they don't know how to look it up manually (link is shortened for convenience of remembering and points to archive.org): https://is.gd/ps3phatcooling For the paranoid...

    PS3 Fan questions

Would also like to know this. I don't even know what temps a stock PS3 normally runs (had a PS2 then realized PS3 fat consoles are compatible so got a CECHA00 from Japan a few days ago and just finished installing 4.91 and the latest CFW by Evilnat).
