I haven't tested the fuses on this one yet but yes vibration works with both original DS2 controllers as well as via Retro Fighters Defender wireless controllers.
Oh ps2doom runs at 240p? This TV's lowest supported resolution on component is 480p/480i so maybe the game is crashing?
I can try using GSM to force 480p and report back.

ahh ok very strange then. My 50001 can power Retro Fighters Defender wireless dongles but not the Brooks adapters. However, I also have a Japanese 39000 which powers the Brooks adapters just fine but it is taken apart right now because I'm in the middle of installing a Retro GEM and waiting for...
did you ever figure this out?
I'm trying also from HDD, edited the config file accordingly and have PC doom.wad and doom2.wad (config says they must be all lower case).
Just like you I am only getting a black screen with the psdoom version at the top.
should add that I tried copying the...
thank you! I don't *think* that's the issue, as the vibration test in MGS3 works with wired official DualShock 2 controllers.
Incidentally, I didn't switch anything when powering it with the front USB - simply as soon as a cable is connected it just "turns on" as expected.
Since I still have...
yes, I need to start by figuring out where the limitation comes from. Since other fat PS2s apparently provide more power (as well as the 90000 slim model), and original PS1's also provide more power... I'm assuming there is some component or chain of components in the PS2 itself on my 50001...
hi! yes I suppose I could modify the adapter itself, but it supports rumble already - is the signal to rumble a digital signal and the rumble power pin simply provides the electricity to spin the motors?
As for the adapter itself, it is not like a multitap - it only pairs with a single...
Just bought some Brooks Wingman PS2 wireless adapters for my PS2 after being very happy with the pair I have on a PS1 but I've noticed something odd.
testing on my fat 50001 model, it seems that its controller port doesn't provide enough power for the Brooks adapter in either controller port. I...
I had the same issue just now, also with a 5000x model (50001 USA model). Actually I'd been using these on a PS1 so I did not even realize that on "some" PS2's they need extra USB power to work.
Oddly, I have also a pair of Retro Fighters Defender controllers, and their wireless adapter works...
just in case anyone finds this in the future running into the same issue -
I cleaned the PIO port on the Playstation by soaking a paper towel cut to the width of the port pin section in distilled white vinegar and let it sit for 25 mins, then dumped a bunch of 99% IPA in there and scrubbed it...
Just as the title says - I'm trying to troubleshoot a SCPH-5501 that I recently overhauled and modded to keep.

I would check the board - look for anything that looks damaged or missing, and you can check all the many fuses. I had a PS1 where the controllers kept not working - replaced the fuse, work for a few minutes then dead again. Turned out there was a small short in the controlller/mc PCB causing...
Ah I searched more and understand now...
APA "Aligned Partition Allocation" scheme sort of supports LBA48 but can only actually work with 32-bit addresses, which is where that 2TB limit comes from so there's no way to exceed that since it is an inherent detail of the partition type.
