Hi every one.
So i have a PS4 on FW v11.02 and i decided to do a revert because i have good soldering skils, materials, and i do soldering for life.
So far so good, everything went pretty well. Dissassembly, Soldering things etc.
I have successfuly red/full backup of the SYSCON and NOR chip.
now to make things clear, this console took FW reflash via USB, so basically its cooked :D no fw revert for it
now what i want to get clarified is the NOR info is saying
FW (active) : 11.02 [min 2.55]
FW (backup) : 10.50 <-> 10.70

so as a curious man, i proceeded the fw revert process and tried all the posible slot switch files but still no success

my question is why it still says
FW (backup) : 10.50 <-> 10.70
if there is any other risky way to try the revert im ready for it
otherwise if its done, well it is what it is
thanks in advence

Edit:

I Did reflash the OG Files and the console is still working fine on 11.02 so no worry about the console if its bricked or not :)

One last thing. because i have the SYSCON/NOR backups of 11.02 FW, can i upgrade to latest FW then revert back to 11.02 later?

afaik, the ps4 has dual nand chips, so the current firmware and the last firmware before that are copied to the nand chips. you can update, but I'd imagine it's a pita to downgrade. doesn't it take three chips? I've never done it myself, but I wouldn't do it unless necessary. one good thing is that afaik, the ps4 and the ps5 doesn't use efuses to prevent downgrading. from what I understand, they should, then, downgrading would probably be impossible.

okay i accepted that my console wont go back to previous fw
but why my NOR chip keep showing FW backup 10.xx ?

I don't know, and I don't really care. I don't believe in people destroying online, so I'll only help so much. the ps3 and pvs online are ruined. I'm a legit user, so I don't want people to destroy those scenes. I don't care what people do as long as the latest isn't hacked. that's when I'll quit. it's not fair that so many don't pay for games and expect what you get for being legit, when I buy games, and I deserve it. those people don't. they don't respect game developers by not buying their games, and they don't respect homebrew developers by not donating. people like that are pos. that is a fact. I'll say it, because it's true. I've donated over $100 to devs, and I'm on disability, barely getting $600/month. there's no excuse for not donating in some compacity unless you're total shit, especially if you pirate. I don't respect such people, and I won't help such people.

I totally agree with your statement. However, not everyone who delves into modding, jailbreaking, or reverse engineering is doing it for piracy. For many of us, it's about curiosity, learning, and expanding our understanding of technology.

I own every game I play and support developers because I value their hard work. I also work in IT, repairing consoles for a living. Modifying or exploring console firmware isn't about stealing—it's about understanding the systems we interact with daily. It's a way to grow skills that not only benefit us but also help others when repairs or troubleshooting are needed.

As a PC gamer, I've purchased every game I own. But tinkering with consoles or software teaches me more about how things work at a technical level. It's the same passion that drives innovation in the homebrew scene, which, by the way, doesn't inherently mean piracy. Many homebrew developers create incredible tools and software that don't harm the gaming industry but enhance it.

Respecting developers and supporting their work is crucial, and I stand by that. But not all modders or tinkerers are "destroying the scene." We're just people passionate about learning and
creating.

the only games I technically pirate are switch ones, because you can without much effort. I only do so for games I actually own, because I'm totally digital on the switch. I simply don't like the majority of people in the scene, who rip off game companies, and don't even donate to people who make it possible. that does piss me off. there's a level of selfishness about it. I mean they don't help anyone but themselves. even with app stuff, I build them myself. I don't expect people to use mine, probably use the dev's, but my purpose is to show that you can do a lot on your own. I mean a lot of people rely on backports, when this stuff is so easy. I talked with al azif about how stupid these back porters really are. plus, you don't even know what you're downloading. you could be downloading a virus, for all you know. there exists one for the ps3 that overruns your hdd. people don't think whatsoever. plus, I believe back ports are piracy. why else would you use one?

We started to went off topic here. I only asked about a line in the info given by a microchip inside my console

sorry 'bout that. I was just reading one of @zecoxao 's tweets from a few days ago, where he said he had thought about quitting. I'm sure he's under a lot of pressure, because a lot of people read his tweets to know what's going on behind the scenes. he's been so involved for so many years that it's easy to get jaded. that's how I personally feel sometimes. when you do something for so long, and bring forth so much effort, it's hard to maintain that level of passion. I mean, you're sacrificing a lot of your life, possibly ignoring other facets of it. I can definitely understand that. that's what's made me a bit bitter towards the scenes at times. most people don't invest the kind of time that he does, so they can't exactly relate to the amount of pressure he's under.

I totally agree. I took the same path few years ago i was in the android porting scene and got the same feelings and pressure. I had to cut some time from my main job to deliver some good custom roms to some android devices untill i got really tired and quit the scene for ever and never went back.

The important thing isn't what it says in the nor info, but what the syscon chip can accept. if the syscon chip doesn't let you go to a backup bank below or at 11.00, you're essentially screwed

Thanks for the clarification. At least i got a backup that i can go back to in case of future upgrades! Right?

I don't think so, because the operative thing is reverting to the previous firmware that was installed. Afaik, if you install another firmware or even reinstall the same one, you won't be able to use that backup.
