Or maybe a Christmas present, I will wait with impatience because the FW from habbib is great looks like it would be from SONY.

Yes, I also dislike the decision of some devs to re-brand their CFW and force the use of custom logos, sounds, themes, waves, etc.

One option is to install 4.82.1 Rebug LITE (habib is part of Rebug Team) and replace the coldboot, icons, waves with the original ones included in xmb mods collection by 0_obeWAN

And update to this stage2 to have the latest changes to Cobra.

I also think that CFW should look in every aspect as standard from Sony, after installing such stock software, then everyone should adapt to their needs. Everyone who uses CFW knows from who make it,(Joonie,Habib,Alex, etc.), so there is no need to shine logs and traces in the firmware.

Hello Everyone,

Just need a little guidence. I have been updating my PS3...since there has been an update for the PS3. I have been really busy with life events and stored my PS3 under my bed and forgot about it for over a year or more. Searching for my shoe under my bed....pull the PS3 out (nothing but dust on the PS3 Slim). I got that PS3 gaming fever again.

So, I bore you with that little info...lol. The Last update I added was 4.65 CFW....I don't remember if it was "Rogero" or "Habib"...I even check my settings and the name of the CFW is not listed but only 4.65 CFW. I read that I can add this CFW 4.81 Starbuck Cobra 7.40 on top of the 4.65 CFW I have. I'm confused about the Cobra 7.40. Is this just an addition to the 4.81 CFW? Do I need to have a "Dongle" now, to run CFW? or this is just a fancy name and nothing to worry about? Also, since I'm updating my PS3....what else should I be updating? I have "Multiman" installed and if you can direct me to a virus free update...that would be cool.

I'm not a noob but have been away for a while, handling life events. I had this PS3 for a few years and never brick it and I just want to keep it that way. Any friendly help will be appreciated. :)

Use store.brewology.com or our resources section to get any updates.
You don't need a dongle anymore, Cobra is included in cfw.

There are couple of features I think I can add at this point tbh haha

1.launch bdvd copy disc without cobra
2.disable history writing(untested)
3.make cobra lv1 peek WAY faster(apps like rebug toolbox and firmware independent apps will be helped)
4.psp config support(I still have to look into it)

But for now we are working on self execution for 3k/4K. Development takes time there is a lot of stuff going on behind scene and it Would bring a lot to table once it's ready to announce and release

This is great news, I keep my fingers crossed, I hope to add my suggestions to this cfw.

Hi @habib I'm currently using emu patched to accept non-encrypted minis2.txt. I have few suggestions about future implementation.

  • Move patch that allow enrypted PSP EBOOT.BIN to run to cfw itself. This allow us to integrate compatibility lists. For now is really problematic, as some psp remasters need eboot resign, while running them on cobra doesn't require this step. I hardcoded psp_eboot_dec_patch from cobra to pemucorelib, but it looks like some additional patch is needed (some of drm patches?). Anyway my point is to not split psp compatibility for future releases of cobra/noncobra.
  • Remove save patch from cobra as it can done in config by SAVEDATA_USE_PS3_SAVE which seems to be proper way
  • Looks like cobra break ELF_PATH from minis2 which is needed for compilation games to run (crazy taxi, power stone). Looks like variable is just ignored and run eboot.bin.
  • Remove psp_set_psp_mode from cobra. Is described as" Sets psp mode as opossed to minis mode. Increases compatibility, removes text protection and makes most savedata work" so it just trying to force remaster mode if I understand correctly which is bad idea for compatibility. And what also important, can be done by config.

I'll consider your suggestions when I'm working on cfw
If you could tell me the patch you do, it will help me get to it faster in the future haha

It will be awesome if you could add the PSP config support like PS2 configs :)
And repair removal of mounted disks by wmm / mm / etc on the triangle menu context, and turn on psp iso, cso with wmm without psp launcher just like other games ps3 / 2 / x :)

Thanks @mysis not me, he found this patch. :)
Anyway if you want to apply it to your cfw then you need to do this by cobra or some other way, because it breaks encrypted minis2.edat. Including original remasters.
So it need to be contitional patch, or need some toggler to keep compatibility with encrypted minis2.

Today i will release app for changing emu to patched one, so people can start test games.

Hello, I'm new, I've read all posts on this topic. And I wonder if @habib will integrate all of these things into your CFW? PSP launcher built into cobra, iso mounted like ps3? Without installing this application? Went out DEX4.82 it was great to see your soft I use the previous version and I think it's great. And I know you're busy
