PS3 4.81 STARBUCKS COBRA 7.40 CFW by Habib

The PlayStation 3 Custom Firmware developer who has a focus on bringing new features to CFW is here with a new release for 4.81. Developer @habib has released 4.81 STARBUCKS COBRA 7.40 CFW , with an updated COBRA payload that has some interesting advancements such as a new syscall (15) added to execute any LV2 Internal function, as habib explains this will allow devs to execute their own payload at a specific address. Other details and feature about Cobra 7.40 update can be seen in the "Cobra 7.40" tab. Other features such as Cinavia protection removed so you can digitalize your personal collection without intrusion this handles all content from HDD, BDMV & BDVD, Habib cover's the new additions in the details provided..

  • COBRA 7.40 Changes:
    1. stage0_base updated for faster boot timings
    2. no more debug texts overwritten for devs
    3. syscall 15 added
    4. updates hashes to cobra internally​

    UPDATE HASH:
    • Make a text file named hash_recheck.txt
    • inside the file put new hashes in format filename:hash per line(e.g vsh.self:a0000101002e6534)
    • paste this file at /dev_hdd0/hash_recheck.txt
    • reboot ps3 and then reboot again
    SYSCALL 15:
    • allows calling of any lv2 internal function like internal memcpy to dump lv2. e.g(memcpy(dst, source, size, symbol);)
    • this also allows developers to execute their own payload at an address e.g you paste payload at 0x3d98 and then execute through sc15
    • example has been attached with new include file named "sc10_15.h"
    OTHER CHANGES COMPARED:
    • with ALL the current cobra cfw released they have a stage0 bug which overwrites another function stack, which could cause instability
    • one i checked didnt had hdd cinavia patched, this has it done

I would definitely advise everyone to stay off from such firmware because it can cause even per ps3 model problems maybe even related to flash
I didnt check exactly what was that function about but it was near where dev_flash was mounted so imo it is a bit serious but not alot
Fyi:i think i applied this fix in 4.75 too in my cfw, not sure

Thanks for confirming which Cobra CFW are concerned by this bug.

So basically all Cobra CFW 4.75/4.76/4.78/4.81 already released, including Rebug CFW) have this bug.
Is this correct?

Does habib mean that the issue is not due to Cobra directly but to a bug with the cell *gcc compiler?

Guys I have the same problem. I am running 4.80 CEX Rebug CFW and it freezes. I have replaced the hd with a 1 tb brand new drive. Formatted it and it freezes anyway. I have tested the new hd drive connecting it to a PC and used HDDScan to verify it. I have ran all tests and the disk it is absolutely fine and performing. No bad sectors no slowing down while analyzing the surface. So I totally exclude that can be a disk issue. Any help would be immensely appreciated. Thanks guys.

what do you mean "the same" problem? my post was confirming that 4.80.1 doesn't have this bug...
 
I don't think your issue has anything to do with REBUG 4.80.1, you can however try updating HABIB 4.81

Joonie as I said I am not on 4.80.1 I am at 4.80 . I have to say that I have had experienced freezing with the previous CFW versions . I always had CEX cfw.

So summarizing you say that if I upgrade to the latest 4.80.1 I should be able to get rid of those annoying freezes ?
 
Updated. I am going to leave the PS3 on all the night to be sure it wont freeze again and the problem is fixed. Thanks for your help Joonie. I will write my discoveries tomorrow :)

FYI, you said you were on REBUG 4.80 = 4.80.1, so updating to the latest REBUG won't help

however, if you freezing was while on webMAN was enabled, I have a feeling you installed the latest version of webMAN MOD 1.45.04 [FULL] edition which would cause the bug I reported regarding webMAN LAUNCH PAD feature that freezes due to its xml generation issue with certain games
 
Could someone explain to me why these incompatible INFORMATION ??
And I also CAN NOT access PS3netserv although I installed it as webman versions:

ONLY Games that are in DEV_USB0 and DEV_USB1 and HDD0 in .iso or in masses, but in netserv (PC) it does NOT recognize ...

Yes I am currently monitoring it. I have webMAN 1.45.04 FULL edition . After the upgrade to 4.80.1 Hab ib with Cobra 7.4 it is still did not freeze . Because I am using PS3 Games Manager (I am the developer) I actually never need to have webMAN creating an XML with the backups list. Through the interface of PS3 Games Manager I tell webMAN which game I want it to load from the network and it does it.

It is too early to say the upgrade to 4.81 fixed the problem. I will leave the PS3 on for at least 24 hours and see if it freezes again or not. In case I will downgrade webMAN even though as I wrote I dont use xml generation with it.

The reason why you are not getting the issue is because currently the code of webMAN LAUNCHPAD doesn't work on habib due to its restriction

Primero yo c reo que la gente aqui no puede entendir Portugues . Es un sitio Angles. Espero que tu puedes ablar Espanol y entendirme. Soy Italiano pero puedo ablar un poquito de Espanol y te entiendo perfectamente en Portugues.

Qué versión de ps3netrv está usando ? He tenido problemas con la versión de las ventanas gráficas de ps3netsrv por Windows.

La versión que funciona mejor para mí es que para MSDOS. Puede descargarlo desde este sitio:

En lugar de utilizar la versión gráfica, utilizo la de MSDOS o la otra para Linux.

Very very good to know. I won't do that cause I really don't need to do anything in dev_flash :) I don't even need to use MultiMan . To be honest I was not really satisfied with the Games Managers available and therefore I have decided to write my own and tailor it to my needs :)

But it would definitely be helpful if you can successfully reproduce the freezing issue because this bug has been present since 1.45.00 and no one has reported except for me, I just want to know if your previous issue was caused by this, if you can confirm it will be very helpful for @aldostools to analyze the cause
