PS3 4.82 NoBD CFW Options ( REBUG / FERROX / OVERFLOW ) : Unable to boot Apps / Games from PS3 XMB?

Here is a type of CFW for PlayStation 3 consoles with a broken BD Logic Board/Drive and contains an issue of not being able to boot anything from the PS3 XMB. It does not matter if the content is stored on the DISC or HDD, you can not launch anything from the XMB with PS3 Console's contain this defect. If that sounds like a PS3 console you have laying around or know someone who might have that issue, there is good news as there is an easy fix (Yes, Sony its easy and Sony should issue this patch themselves). Simply by disabling & patching the Disc drive, developer's in the PS3 community have found out this allows those otherwise useless consoles to launch items once again from the PS3 XMB, So play your purchased Content from PSN / Disc Backups ect/ Purchase things from PSN store/ play video & use services once again on your PS3. noBD CFW for a majority will never be used, but is a great option for PS3 owners that are otherwise stuck with a broken console that would only use would be a power hungry screensaver. So lets take a look at some of the NoBD CFW options and favors we have seen released to this point

!thx
Whats your recommendation for an L01nor No bd cexCFW
You must choose a cfw according to your needs then get the noBD patched version of that cfw.
If you wish a minimal cfw without Cobra, you might want to check noBD Ferrox.
If you prefer a simple but reliable Cobra CFW, look into a noBD Habib CFW.
And if you are a power user & wish to have access to every possible cfw features including DEX mode then a noBD Rebug will be your best bet.

Hi. Can we expect Rebug 4.82.2 REX/D-REX NoBD? Thx in advance.

I'm not sure if @bitsbubba will make one or not. he made the one for 4.81, manually. you can make your own with mfw. use 0.2.1 which I think is a mod by @haxxxen . it's very easy to do. all you need is the pup. don't select any option but the bd one or it will error on you. oh, and before, go to settings and link to the ps3 keys folder. otherwise, it will error on you as well.

the reason I made 4.82 LITE manually is because the MFW Builer patches weren't working correctly (or at all), if I can find some time between work, sleep, chemo & steroid crashes I'll see what I can do about 4.82 REX

take it easy, my friend. there's no rush. :)

@solstic3 or anybody else looking for it here's REBUG 4.82.2 REX/D-REX NoBD. MD5 is in the title & also the description on sendspace.

https://www.sendspace.com/file/wyeaun

P.S. as with the last one I did I manually patched this with zecoxao's NoBD strings. I also installed this on my CECH-2001A and all seems well but as always take precautions as I am not responsible for you installing this on your system.

@STLcardsWS if you're not busy (lol) would you add these to the OP with your magic

hi guys. Could anyone tell me is there a way to run .ISO images on NoBD Cobra FW without BD drive connected at all? Unpacked games put in folder GAMES work well, but running .ISO from mmCm causes the error message: "The selected disk image is not a compliant PS3 ISO, but you may still be able to access in other applications." The ISOs run flawlessly on the Standard Cobra FWs with healthy BD drive connected. Tried out all the attached NoBD FWs from here, yet no success.

PS3 model: CECH 2004A.

If you wish to remain without BD drive, you should at least buy a second hand logic board for 2xxx models & connect it to the main board, it should cost about 5/10 bucks max & you would be able to mount iso files without difficulty.
Without a functioning logic board, running the standard payloads to support ISO is known to be problematic. You will probably be limited to using legacy JB folder format & BD emulation.

Okay with that, but isn't yet there a software method to replace the need of lb? I read a topic from a few yrs ago concerning the issue, but it was not done then. Started here with a wish to know if anything changed, but doesn't seem optimistic. Right?

bd emulation options in multiman, or use webman

doesn't work, but thx for the answer anyway.

A software method for what? Mounting ISO without logic board? Not afaik.
But like I said, mounting legacy JB folder should be possible.
It would be possible to improve this situation in theory but there are few active ps3 developers & very few noBD+noLB users, basically there has been no progress for a while in that area afaik.

Hello. I have a early fat model with broken bd. I tried overflow standard nobd, I can get Multiman to open, recognize games in folder of internal hdd but when I try loading one, nothing new appears on XMB menu... Can someone tell me wich cfw and patches I should be using? Thank you.

When a Disc icon is not shown on the XMB due to a broken, missing or detached BD Drive, navigate to App/PS3_Game Column on the XMB, the disc should display it there.
