. Original Article (4.84 HFW - March 2019): Huge News as the PS3 exploit ladder has taken a step up into 4.84 rung, with a new approach to bring back PS3Xploit functionality on 4.84. With a Hybrid Firmware (NOT A CFW) that can be installed on ANY MODEL PS3 over any Official Firmware (OFW) version. .The only thing this modified firmware essentially does is bring back the patched webkit from OFW 4.82 that was an entry point for PS3Xploit, if you recall when 4.84 was released developers @bguerville and @esc0rtd3w stated the exploit was not actually patched but rather only the webkit entry used was removed in 4.83+ which rendered the actual exploit unreachable (not patched and could be restored). Now the webkit is back for 4.84 OFW thanks to this new clever magic that has allowed OFW user's to use and install this slightly modified Firmware.​

So, what does all this mean? Now it will be just like it was back in 4.82 before PS3Xploit was "patched"(some ps3xploit tools need updated still) you will be able to install a CFW (on a CFW compatible model) and for those unfortunate user's that does not have a CFW Compatible model (i.e. SuperSlim/late slims) you have will have access to the HAN exploit . So for new user's or ones that updated, here is your second chances thanks to the efforts of the members of PS3Xploit Team and to @Joonie (waved magic wand on files) and prepared this magically release, @habib (for valuable input on this project) and @esc0rtd3w (work in porting ps3xploit tools to 4.84) ​

It has been an exciting month here at psx-place with so much progress on all fronts of the PS3 . the fuel of this project actually comes from a user simply igniting a spark with an idea as @Doge_Rules did with this thread truly making it a community effort.   Today, we proudly present the very first modified OFW that can be installed on all PS3 models. (NOTE: THIS IS NOT A FULL BLOWN CFW, HOWEVER IT Allows you to run the patched webkit exploit that's ported to 4.84)​
  
  Yes, you didn't hear wrong, it can be installed over
  
  • ALL OFW versions on ALL PS3 models
    • ex) OFW 4.83, 4.84 , CECH-3XXX, CECH-4XXX and etc..
  
  We wanted this to be called "HHHFW" since it was Hybrid, Hack-able, HAN ready also inspired by @habib but let's call it HFW since this is Hybrid FW (Well you can call this MFW).
  
  The idea was reminded by some guy who didn't want to be annoying but actually ended up being helpful: @ psx-place.com
  
  Habib had this idea long time ago but the previous attempt was not successful due to lack of interest and preparation.
  
  As you all know, I recently started messing with my PS3 again and this idea was brought back.
  
  So then I went ahead and tried his magical idea.... after a few hours later... Boom!!, now we have HFW that works on all PS3 models (including 3K and 4K) that allows the previously patched exploit by using old webkit from 4.50 that's been used until 4.83. This method is rather hacky than technical, so I would like to leave this method under the radar for now until it gets patched out (this can easily be patched).
  
  What can you do with this HFW 4.84.1/2?
  
  1. You can use PSN since the FW is the latest.
  2. You can downgrade/Install CFW on your PS3 if your model is downgrade-able/hack-able (excluding CECH-3K and 4K)
  (The same capability as what you had for 4.82 OFW)
  3. You can use HAN and all the tools that worked up to 4.82 with this FW.
  4. You can always go back to the real OFW 4.84 if you wish.​

Hi...The HAN toolbox seems not working on current HFW right now, my console freezes after enabling HAN in offline mode. Any ideas how to fix it?

It was my prefered way of doing it back on 4.82.
Just throw the new index_nor.html and new writer in the htdocs folder? Has anyone tried yet?

Yes download the support files from the website. It will be under hfw 4.84 flash writer category.

Hi guys I'm stuck right now and I would love it if you guys could help me so on my 60gb hard drive I'm in on a update loop so I thought use another hard drive. So when I plugged in the hard drive I clicked restore and everything but I can't get out of safe mode when I click on update it says it can because there is a serious issue. If any one could reply that would be nice

 

Im a noob with ps3 hacking, can anyone give a suggestion on how to dump my license because i have tried both mini-web and the website and neither is working. im on the hybrid update with han installed and enabled,i am signed in to psn on a dummy account and i have verified it. i read somewhere that i have to download a demo to get this to work but i didnt try that. i have a 32gb USB stick in the right USB slot, with all the files i need. is there an easier way to do this because all i want to do is play ps1, ps2 and ps3 games on this with isos. i am following this guidehttps://www.psx-place.com/threads/tutorial-the-great-ps3xploit-3-0-han-all-in-one-guide.16979/ but i still cant figure out my problem. i am experienced in modding (just not with ps3) and windows so i just need some things explained on how to do this

 

Boot your PS3 in safe mode (hold down power button till it turns on and off; hold down again and release after three beeps) and select system update with the hfw on X:/PS3/UPDATE/PS3UPDAT.PUP

Safe mode was indeed the solution, although getting into safe mode was not so easy on an ultra slim, as also evidenced by various other threads on the issue of getting into safe mode on an ultra slim (not helped either by the fact that my TV kept switching back to cable TV, each time the PS3 was switched off). But in the end I managed to get the screen asking me to plug a controller in over USB and press the PS button, and it gave me the safe mode screen after that.

After that I was able to successfully run the HAN Installer from **ps3xploit.com >Domain no Longer owned by team** (ps3xploit.me =new).

The next part confused me, as running the HAN installer caused the old HAN options in the game menu to re-appear (I had HAN installed before the 4.84 upgrade), but HAN Enable from those options did not work. The solution was to go again to **ps3xploit.com >Domain no Longer owned by team** (ps3xploit.me =new) and run the HAN Enable from there, and then install the hantoolbox_mod_4.84.pkg and simple_hanenabler.pkg from USB which caused the old options to disappear, but now I can enable HAN and install packages again, and run the games that I had already installed on the HDD.

Flashed, installed Rebug 4.84, Perfect. But then i realised: this BD drive is busted, i need a no-BD CFW. Tried to go back to Ferrox 4.82 no_BD, but i get an error during the process. Do i wait for a 4.84 no-bd to be released? Any ideas?

You can,But HAN is for non cfw compatible models not for CFW compatible consoles.CFW is way much better than HAN.

Unfortunately,You cannot install CFW on your console (at this time) but you can use HAN at this moment.

I had the exploit but when I came back to update the original and deleted the exploit and installed the exploit 4.84.2 HFW was a problem while loading the update say the data is corrupted 8002f2c5 I hope you want help

 

Hello I have a little problem with installation of 4.84 hybrid fw on ps3 FAT. When I installed it through SYSTEM UPDATE it detected the hybrid fw on my usb. I installed it, then the ps3 restarted and said it cannot be installed because its the same version as the firmware that I already have installed.Press O to exit. I've tried safe mode, but when I want to install the update it says that I need to insert a usb with update 4.84 or later, tried different port (same problem).
