. Original Article (4.84 HFW - March 2019): Huge News as the PS3 exploit ladder has taken a step up into 4.84 rung, with a new approach to bring back PS3Xploit functionality on 4.84. With a Hybrid Firmware (NOT A CFW) that can be installed on ANY MODEL PS3 over any Official Firmware (OFW) version. .The only thing this modified firmware essentially does is bring back the patched webkit from OFW 4.82 that was an entry point for PS3Xploit, if you recall when 4.84 was released developers @bguerville and @esc0rtd3w stated the exploit was not actually patched but rather only the webkit entry used was removed in 4.83+ which rendered the actual exploit unreachable (not patched and could be restored). Now the webkit is back for 4.84 OFW thanks to this new clever magic that has allowed OFW user's to use and install this slightly modified Firmware.​

So, what does all this mean? Now it will be just like it was back in 4.82 before PS3Xploit was "patched"(some ps3xploit tools need updated still) you will be able to install a CFW (on a CFW compatible model) and for those unfortunate user's that does not have a CFW Compatible model (i.e. SuperSlim/late slims) you have will have access to the HAN exploit . So for new user's or ones that updated, here is your second chances thanks to the efforts of the members of PS3Xploit Team and to @Joonie (waved magic wand on files) and prepared this magically release, @habib (for valuable input on this project) and @esc0rtd3w (work in porting ps3xploit tools to 4.84) ​

It has been an exciting month here at psx-place with so much progress on all fronts of the PS3 . the fuel of this project actually comes from a user simply igniting a spark with an idea as @Doge_Rules did with this thread truly making it a community effort.   Restores PS3Xploit Flasher/Tools & PS3Xploit HAN for 4.84 OFW user's​
  
  
  Today, we proudly present the very first modified OFW that can be installed on all PS3 models. (NOTE: THIS IS NOT A FULL BLOWN CFW, HOWEVER IT Allows you to run the patched webkit exploit that's ported to 4.84)​
  
  Yes, you didn't hear wrong, it can be installed over
  
  • ALL OFW versions on ALL PS3 models
    • ex) OFW 4.83, 4.84 , CECH-3XXX, CECH-4XXX and etc..
  
  We wanted this to be called "HHHFW" since it was Hybrid, Hack-able, HAN ready also inspired by @habib but let's call it HFW since this is Hybrid FW (Well you can call this MFW).
  
  The idea was reminded by some guy who didn't want to be annoying but actually ended up being helpful: @ psx-place.com
  
  Habib had this idea long time ago but the previous attempt was not successful due to lack of interest and preparation.
  
  As you all know, I recently started messing with my PS3 again and this idea was brought back.
  
  So then I went ahead and tried his magical idea.... after a few hours later... Boom!!, now we have HFW that works on all PS3 models (including 3K and 4K) that allows the previously patched exploit by using old webkit from 4.50 that's been used until 4.83. This method is rather hacky than technical, so I would like to leave this method under the radar for now until it gets patched out (this can easily be patched).
  
  What can you do with this HFW 4.84.1/2?
  
  1. You can use PSN since the FW is the latest.
  2. You can downgrade/Install CFW on your PS3 if your model is downgrade-able/hack-able (excluding CECH-3K and 4K)
  (The same capability as what you had for 4.82 OFW)
  3. You can use HAN and all the tools that worked up to 4.82 with this FW.
  4. You can always go back to the real OFW 4.84 if you wish.​

I think my ps3 is suffering YLOD and I dumped to usb and went on my pc and the dump.HEX file was on my usb and I also had my CFW ready im on CECH2003A ps3 slim my bd doesn't work hence why I want to jailbreak to get games using obikuni multistore or ***PlayStation Store***

not sure cause you say your PS3 shutsdown with yellow led meaning your console is bricked the only way to restore it back to work is hardware flasher like E3 Flasher or Teensy you need to solder a wire between Tristate and GND to make the ps3 power on without shutdown

Your claim about safe mode installation twice is necessary is total bullshit since I tested everything myself. I went from 4.82 to 4.84 without safe mode and webkit was usable after a few failures since the success rate has never been 100%. If you ever tried this on 4.82 you wouldn't be telling this to me. (going from OFW 4.66 to HFW 4.84 and OFW 4.82 to HFW 4.84 don't make any difference)

Look at the popup window on "ps3xploit":

ATTENTION: We will soon no longer support 4.82 FW For Flash Writer and HAN! It is recommended to install HFW 4.84 TWICE, or install 4.84 OFW, then HFW, before using any of the 4.84 exploits! If XMB fails to find/install PUP, reboot to RECOVERY and try again!

I must used the safe mode if I first updated from OFW 4.82 to OFW 4.84 and then a "normal" update from OFW 4.84 to HFW 4.84 don't work when they are the same version!

OFW 4.84 and HFW 4.84 are the same (in some threads you can find that).

I forgot a little thing in my first posting: I used at that time the "han_supportfiles-484" from the "ps3_tools-v3.0-HAN484_HFW_release_PS3XPloit.zip". And that was the reason to installed HFW 4.84 because "HAN Enable" and "HAN Install" only work with HFW 4.84!

First I tried it with OFW 4.84. "HAN Enable" worked but "HAN Install" failed with a copy error.

I've never say that I know a lot of how that works! I only said what I saw when I had updated the FW.

2. Updating firmware, is UPDATING or installing. NOT flashing.

That not 100 % correct!

"Update the firmware" or "Installing the firmware" is the general term.

Every PS3 has got flash rom (the correct name is "EPROM" => "Erasable Programmable Read-Only Memory) with the FW on it and if I write to a flash memory than the technical term is called "flashing" and not "updating" or "installing".

Here is a quote from the "Superuser blog":

Flashing it means to update it with a new program. You shouldn't do it unless you need to do so in order to fix something. If power goes out while flashing, you can be left with an unbootable computer.

In order to update the BIOS, the software chip must be completely erased and updated with a flash utility; this is essentially the process known as "flashing the BIOS". This is referred to as "flashing" because the BIOS code is stored in flash memory.

If I start a setup program on an OS (like Windows, MAC-OS, Linux...) then it called "installing" and if the OS get the newest system files then it called "updating".

3. There is not one line of code in HFW that will create the package manager

If you search for "ps3 activate safe mode" in a search engine you will find search results with "...turn on..." and with "...activate..." in the title.

You can use: "...enter into", "...turn on..." and "...activate...".

After all, they were all user errors. Installing twice only for Flasher users for downgrade. You look at the pop up yourself before asking me, and you got the copy error by trying HAN without HFW.

That is not there either, i give up.

Prove it, install HFW and see if you have package manager folder, i 100% promise you will it will not be there. That is final word i have to say, you are just wrong, everyone here know it.

Let me ask you a question? What does Bricking a console have to do with thermal paste? A PS3 would boot, even without Thermal Paste, it would overheat of course! And Hardware Flasher isn't compatible with all console models.

Do a bit of research before posting non-sense.

First off, make sure you are getting your info from decent source, for example HERE, you can not trust random youtube tutorials.

• Make sure that you are setting the http://**ps3xploit.com >Domain no L...ps3xploit.me =new)/hfw/han/han_installer.html page as homepage, (4.84 HFW) .
• Then close and open the browser, you must do this in between every attempt.
• Make sure HAN Support files are on a compatible FAT32 USB stick in right hand side port
• Keep trying
• Wifi not recommended, try to use wired connection until its all set up with HAN Toolbox

no cause the ps3 will not be formatted so your games,saves,music,movies,videos .... will still there cause you just add games with package manager not with injection like old times
