. Original Article (4.84 HFW - March 2019): Huge News as the PS3 exploit ladder has taken a step up into 4.84 rung, with a new approach to bring back PS3Xploit functionality on 4.84. With a Hybrid Firmware (NOT A CFW) that can be installed on ANY MODEL PS3 over any Official Firmware (OFW) version. .The only thing this modified firmware essentially does is bring back the patched webkit from OFW 4.82 that was an entry point for PS3Xploit, if you recall when 4.84 was released developers @bguerville and @esc0rtd3w stated the exploit was not actually patched but rather only the webkit entry used was removed in 4.83+ which rendered the actual exploit unreachable (not patched and could be restored). Now the webkit is back for 4.84 OFW thanks to this new clever magic that has allowed OFW user's to use and install this slightly modified Firmware.​

So, what does all this mean? Now it will be just like it was back in 4.82 before PS3Xploit was "patched"(some ps3xploit tools need updated still) you will be able to install a CFW (on a CFW compatible model) and for those unfortunate user's that does not have a CFW Compatible model (i.e. SuperSlim/late slims) you have will have access to the HAN exploit . So for new user's or ones that updated, here is your second chances thanks to the efforts of the members of PS3Xploit Team and to @Joonie (waved magic wand on files) and prepared this magically release, @habib (for valuable input on this project) and @esc0rtd3w (work in porting ps3xploit tools to 4.84) ​

It has been an exciting month here at psx-place with so much progress on all fronts of the PS3 . the fuel of this project actually comes from a user simply igniting a spark with an idea as @Doge_Rules did with this thread truly making it a community effort.   Restores PS3Xploit Flasher/Tools & PS3Xploit HAN for 4.84 OFW user's​
  
  
  Today, we proudly present the very first modified OFW that can be installed on all PS3 models. (NOTE: THIS IS NOT A FULL BLOWN CFW, HOWEVER IT Allows you to run the patched webkit exploit that's ported to 4.84)​
  
  Yes, you didn't hear wrong, it can be installed over
  
  • ALL OFW versions on ALL PS3 models
    • ex) OFW 4.83, 4.84 , CECH-3XXX, CECH-4XXX and etc..
  
  We wanted this to be called "HHHFW" since it was Hybrid, Hack-able, HAN ready also inspired by @habib but let's call it HFW since this is Hybrid FW (Well you can call this MFW).
  
  The idea was reminded by some guy who didn't want to be annoying but actually ended up being helpful: @ psx-place.com
  
  Habib had this idea long time ago but the previous attempt was not successful due to lack of interest and preparation.
  
  As you all know, I recently started messing with my PS3 again and this idea was brought back.
  
  So then I went ahead and tried his magical idea.... after a few hours later... Boom!!, now we have HFW that works on all PS3 models (including 3K and 4K) that allows the previously patched exploit by using old webkit from 4.50 that's been used until 4.83. This method is rather hacky than technical, so I would like to leave this method under the radar for now until it gets patched out (this can easily be patched).
  
  What can you do with this HFW 4.84.1/2?
  
  1. You can use PSN since the FW is the latest.
  2. You can downgrade/Install CFW on your PS3 if your model is downgrade-able/hack-able (excluding CECH-3K and 4K)
  (The same capability as what you had for 4.82 OFW)
  3. You can use HAN and all the tools that worked up to 4.82 with this FW.
  4. You can always go back to the real OFW 4.84 if you wish.​

I tried installing HEN from the website but the icon was grayed out so I didn't even bother with the alternate way. Better safe than sorry.

For all those who are on CEX and HFW systems on 4.84 (yup, also CEX CFW), there's a German DNS which hides your console's FW as 4.85.. it's working everywhere and is originally used for PS3 easyHEN (Check it out on YT but it's in German)

Just set up your internet connection and type this DNS in there

Primary 51.38.125.69
Secondary 5.230.145.119

Here's a screenshot to see that the DNS is active with the link so you can check it as well if something happens.

 

If you want a simple way to install HEN after installing Joonie's 4.85 HFW, just set this URL (heni.atwebpages.com) as your homepage on the PS3 browser. All of the offsets are the same as 4.84 so the only thing that needs to be changed to "port" the other tools is swapping the firmware version check.

If initialization fails, just keep trying and it will work eventually.

 

HEN 2.3.1 is working now on 4.85 HFW, and a modified 2.3.1 package has been made and tested.

The ps3xploit site has been updated to show current tool statuses as well.

the latest version of multiman is based on 4.82 and has worked well in 4.84 with the changes that were made to adapt it to hen, so it should not give problems in the current firmware 4.85 test to see if it works

Yeah you can. I couldn't get the main installer to work so I had to use the alternate install and followed the directions and it works. I haven't tested with a lot of stuff but webman worked right away since I already had it installed.

Same problem here. I installed 4.85 OFW manually, then 4.85.1 HFW manually. All that would be left is to go to PS3Xploit/hen/installer to actually re-enable HEN, but it just freezes up the entire system. Any guidance would be appreciated; I don't do anything with HEN other than play 4 rare and highly expensive PS2 games.

Yes I do, but I'm wary of the discs being damaged so I keep them in storage in a dark room. When I heard of HEN as an alternative to putting my copy of Haunting Ground in my PS2 and risk scratches, I was elated.

In that case, I understand and I do apologise for coming across as suspicious. We take piracy seriously here, so can't be too careful I'm afraid. I have some of my rare-ish PS1 games backed up myself, for the same reasons.

They are the same as 4.84 except a couple minor text edits for update path and firmware detection. This works, but we will release an update sometime soon that actually has 4.85 support.

The installers both work now and i have verified this on the superslim i have here. If you have issues, try running installer again.

Having said all that, we still recommend to use 4.84 HFW until everything has been ported over

1) No point for HEN v2, as it will all be settled soon. Plus all other tools will work fine after ported.
2) Yes you can enable HAN when tools are updated, but its pointless, as HEN has HAN enabled by default
3) That entry has been removed long ago from HEN XML. For HAN installer, we have dropped support for it.

I'm shutting the PS3 off between each attempt, because... it freezes, and it's the only other way to get my PS3 access back.) I'm no expert at any of this, but I'm guessing it's because the update is necessary.

Try using the alternate installer on the site or if all else fails, you can try the installer I mentioned in this post https://www.psx-place.com/threads/u...-for-4-84-ofw-users.23094/page-67#post-201449

It probably won't be up for much longer as there's no real point now.

Not sure why people have freezing. I would suggest trying again...or just waiting.

I again tested this on my superslim last night and it works fine from ps3xploit site.
